Ripples of Resetting

There’s something about this time of year that invites a pause.

As the year comes to a close – and here in the Southern Hemisphere, as school and work cycles wind down – many of us feel the quiet completion of a chapter.

This is not something to push through or override.
It’s part of being human.

Life moves in cycles.
Months turn into seasons.
Days move from light to dark, effort to rest.

Resetting isn’t about wiping the slate clean.
It’s about noticing where you are in the cycle, allowing what has been to complete, and gently creating space for what comes next.

Small moments of reset create ripples – in how we feel, how we breathe, and how we step forward.

Take a moment.

The storms in life are inevitable – but they don’t have to define us.
Learning to think and live with a coach’s mindset has helped me navigate some of my own rough weather with greater clarity, courage, and purpose. It taught me how to pause, reflect, and reframe challenges into new beginnings.

Taking Off the Mask

Last night I saw Lady Gaga live — epic, electric, unforgettable.

But it was a quiet moment offstage that hit me hardest.

The camera followed her as a team member gently removed hair from her face and adjusted her mic. No performance, just presence.

It reminded me:
Sometimes the most powerful moments are when we take off the mask — even for a second.
That’s where real connection lives.

Joy is contagious (and I hope we never find a cure)!

A friend recently shared some incredible news — the kind that shifts everything for them. And while it had nothing to do with my life, I felt it deeply. Like, really deeply.

That moment reminded me just how powerful joy can be when we let it move through us — even if we’re just witnessing it in someone else’s life.

In positive psychology, we talk about the contagious nature of emotions. And this? This was joy spreading in real time.

What happens when we choose to fully show up in someone else’s good news — not to compare, not to perform, just to feel it with them?

That’s when the magic happens.

The Power of Pause
Yesterday, I had the joy of speaking on a podcast and live webinar about resilience and bouncing forward.

One idea that stayed with me: the simple act of pausing.

Not to chase positive emotions, but to create space — to reflect, reset, and perhaps see things with fresh eyes.

In that moment, we might not feel joy, but we may find calm, clarity, or contentment — quiet strengths often overlooked.

Today, try it:
Just one or two minutes.
Sit. Stand. Breathe. Be.
Let the pause do its quiet work.

There’s something powerful about keeping a promise to yourself.
For years I’ve said it: I should get back into weights.
I knew it was good for me. I meant well. I had every intention.

But here’s the thing…
Good intentions don’t move the needle.
Knowing is not the same as doing.

Change doesn’t come from thinking about it.
It comes from lacing up your shoes, showing up, and pushing through that first set—especially when you don’t feel like it.

And you know what made the difference this time?
A friend.
The kind who shows up with you, laughs when it hurts, and celebrates the tiny wins.

Motivation is great—but momentum is better.
And momentum is easier to build when you’re not doing it alone.

So here’s your gentle nudge:
What promise have you made to yourself that’s still waiting to be kept?
And who could walk that path with you?
