So good to have parents from CARE SIngapore programmes and VC joined us last Saturday for the parents webinar. Appreciate the work that CARE Singapore is doing! 💪🏼❤️

Last Saturday, CARE Singapore partnered with Comeback Pte Ltd to host a webinar focused on helping parents better understand gaming, gamers, and game dependency. 🎮

We were heartened to see parents from our programmes and the Volunteer Centre (VC) network join us. It was a valuable opportunity to learn how to connect more deeply with our children and support them as they navigate the digital world.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Comeback Pte Ltd for leading such an eye-opening and practical session! 💬

Meet Ryden, the awesome student helper who made Digital for Life Festival 2024 super fun! He shared how gaming actually helps him stay focused - and honestly, we didn't notice any lack of focus at the booth 😂.

Turns out, research shows that action video games can boost reaction time, processing speed, and attention span. They can even help people with ADHD improve their focus. And guess what? These skills aren't just for gaming – they can be used in all areas of life!

So, gamers, we've got what it takes to crush it! Let's do this 💪

Shoutout to Tencent for supporting COMEBACK programmes!

Shopping can be super fun, even more so for in-game stuff! We've been there — making in-game purchases and overspending on our set budget. Stella opened up about her spending habits, and it was awesome having her at the Digital for Life Festival 2024 for TeleMatch.

Let's try to stick to our budgets and maybe even put a little aside regularly for those limited-time events we want to go all out on.

Big thanks to Tencent for supporting COMEBACK programmes!

P.S. We love your mahjong huat shirt Stella! ❤❤❤
Happy Lunar New Year! Huat Huat Huat!

Parents have asked us many time if there is a more precise number of hours of screen time for a child. MOH has rolled this out after much research and consideration for children of 12 years old and below.

Here’s some quote from the article that are answers to parents’ questions:

“As part of the strategy, the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) will update its code of practice for preschools, effective Feb 1, to mandate no screen use for infants up to 18 months.”

“MOH has also updated its guidance on screen use for children, which includes limiting screen use to less than one hour a day outside of school for those aged between three and six.
For those aged between seven and 12, the ministry recommended less than two hours a day of screen use, unless related to schoolwork.
It also discouraged parents from giving children unrestricted access to mobile devices, or any access to social media services.”

"We've reached a critical point. We have enough evidence that prompts us to want to do something than to wait for more evidence to come up," says the Ministry of Health.

On 17 Dec Tue morning, COMEBACK’s founder Pauline was in studio for Breakfast with Ryan Huang, Emaad Akhtar and Audrey Siek of for a chat on gaming. Love the energy of the trio and being so faithful and timely in bringing updates and news in the mornings.

We split the audio recording of the interview according to the questions here.

We are once again at the year end. 2024 is the 5th year of COMEBACK. It has been quite a journey, working with gamers and families. We couldn’t have done this without the support of partners, families and gamers.

Big shout out to Tencent Singapore, who has been so supportive of the programmes and activities of COMEBACK. Without Tencent, we wouldn’t have been able to run TeleMatch Pokémon UNITE at Digital for Life Festival so smoothly, with the IP approval, the Pokémon plushies for prizes, and getting many backend things in place.

Our belief that gaming can have positive benefits when we are intentional in our engagement while mitigating the downside is the path that we have been on. There are new and not-so-new happenings in the pipeline for 2025. So stay tuned!

Happy Blessed New Year! 🥳❤️

A survey by MCI has shown that while 47 percent of Singaporean youth aged 10 to 18 play games daily, many parents remain disconnected from their children's online gaming worlds. So how can we encourage healthy habits and shared experiences between family members in a digital age, using gaming as a t...

Here's the highlight video of COMEBACK + Tencent Booth at Digital for Life Festival, Vivocity on 9-10 Nov 2024. There were so much excitement to having President Tharman gracing the festival and Minister Vivian Balakrishnan at our booth. We played 13 Mini TeleMatch Pokémon UNITE over the weekend giving out many Pokémon plushes to winning teams.

We interviewed some of the TeleMatch participants and why they enjoy video games.
- Gaming can be a fantastic way to bond with family and friends, fostering communication and connection.
- Games are designed to be fun. It is important that players engage with games in a responsible and positive manner.
- It is also important to remember that online safety is a shared responsibility. Game developers, like the creators of Pokémon UNITE, have built in safety features within the game. For example, in Pokémon UNITE:
- Players must interact with another player at least five times before using chat functions.
- Players under the age of 16 cannot use free text or voice chat.
- Players need a linked account and must reach Trainer Level 6 to access chat.
These features help ensure players are legitimate and not potential predators.

Players also have a role in staying safe. It's crucial to avoid sharing personal details like your full name, school, home address, bank information, and parents' names with new gaming friends.

REMEMBER, choose your friends wisely!

Big thank you to .sg for the opportunity to be part of the festival. Also shout out to PICO team for the tireless support. Appreciate the support from Tencent for the past 3 years. ❤

COMEBACK Team, you are amazing for all the work, fun and laughter! ❤

COMEBACK

COMEBACK is used to describe a turn around to win a game even though the situation in a game was very bad without hope of winning.

To some gamers, the battle with games may feel hopeless, i.e. games are winning, where you missed opportunities in life without a chance of winning. COMEBACK trains you to have mastery over games for a come back. All hope is not lost as games are not meant to be our master.

COMEBACK is a 6 weekly session program to train gamers on mastery over games. During the school holidays, we conduct COMEBACK Express where we complete the 6 sessions in 3 weeks. You can first take our Game Dependency Test to see how much mastery you have over games. If your dependency on games requires you to gain more mastery, you can sign up for the Interview Assessment before the enrolment into COMEBACK to know you better. A report with recommendations will be provided to you after the Interview Assessment.
