Is this a sleep regression… or just normal development?

Here’s what most parents don’t realise.
The only real sleep regression is the 4 month regression.
Everything after that is usually your baby hitting new developmental milestones.

When babies learn to roll, sit, crawl, stand, or babble, their brain is working overtime.
Sleep gets temporarily messy, but nothing is “wrong.”

What to do:
• Keep routines consistent
• Offer comfort without starting new habits
• Let them practise skills during the day
• Protect bedtime
• Trust that this phase passes

Most parents think the problem is the routine, the nap schedule, or the wake windows.
But the biggest reason sleep doesn’t improve is this:

When a baby can’t fall asleep on their own, night wakes feel never-ending because they need the same help every time they cycle through light sleep.

Here’s the good news.
Once we help your baby learn to fall asleep independently, everything else starts improving:

Getting your baby’s wake window right can make all the difference between smooth naps and overtired meltdowns.

💤 What is it?
It’s simply the amount of time your baby is awake between sleeps — from the moment they wake up to the moment they fall asleep again.

✨ Why it matters:
Wake windows help you catch the sweet spot — when your baby is tired enough to sleep easily, but not overtired and fighting it.

Here’s a general guide to help you start:
👶 Newborn (0–2 months): 45–60 mins
🍼 2–3 months: 1–1.5 hrs
🌤️ 4–5 months: 1.5–2.25 hrs
🌙 6–7 months: 2–3 hrs
🌼 8–10 months: 2.5–3.5 hrs
☀️ 11–14 months: 3–4.5 hrs
⭐ 15–18 months: 4–6 hrs

💡 Tip: Watch your baby, not the clock. Look for tired cues — zoning out, losing interest, rubbing eyes — and aim to start your nap or bedtime routine just before these appear.
