Let's face it... We all have a smartphone addiction!

And could do better at managing our screen time.

But for some of us that can be a super difficult task.

Check your breathing now for email apnea... This habit can lead to a decrease in oxygen intake, resulting in heightened stress levels, reduced cognitive function, and overall diminished well-being.

When I have tested this with my clients literally 100% of them report back that they are not breathing properly when working on a screen.

Breathing properly is super important as it ensures that our bodies receive an adequate supply of oxygen, which is essential for cellular function, energy production, and overall vitality.

Yogis practice breathing to regulate the pH balance of the blood, support the functioning of the immune system for the removal of toxins and waste products from the body.

But most importantly, deep, diaphragmatic breathing activates the body's relaxation response, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and tension.

Contact me for a breathing lesson if you're not breathing properly and need some help to re-program your patterns.

Money can't buy time.

Money can't buy health.

Money can't buy happiness.

Yet we are willing to put all three at risk for money.

Grinding slowly might sound boring, not be in fashion and take you longer but it doesn't cost you as much time, health or happiness.

The hardest job on the planet often comes with a deep psychological cost.

The mental and psychological impact of motherhood encompasses a complex array of experiences, emotions, and challenges that are often overlooked or minimized in societal discourse. Central to this impact is the profound transition of identity and self-worth that mothers undergo as they navigate the multifaceted roles of caregiver, nurturer, and provider.

The Motherhood Penalty refers to the negative impact that motherhood can have on a woman's career advancement, earning potential, and overall professional opportunities. This phenomenon is rooted in societal biases and gender stereotypes that devalue mothers in the workplace and perpetuate inequality between men and women. From a psychological perspective, the Motherhood Penalty can have profound effects on a woman's sense of identity, self-worth, and well-being.

You've heard of the 4 day work week but have you heard of bio-rhythm based work schedules?

I am a huge fan of this way to work and harnessing or natural circadian (night-time) and ultradian rhythms (day-time).

Biorhythm-based work schedules are designed to align employees' work hours with their natural energy rhythms, optimizing productivity, focus, and well-being. These schedules take into account the fluctuations in individuals' physical, mental, and emotional states throughout the day, known as biorhythms. Biorhythms typically follow a predictable pattern, with peaks and dips in energy levels occurring at specific times. By structuring work schedules to coincide with employees' peak energy periods, organizations aim to maximize performance and minimize fatigue and burnout.

Your well-rested self is your most valuable asset.

In a world that glorifies hustle culture, prioritizing rest can feel like a radical act of self-care. Remember, productivity thrives on rejuvenation. Make rest a non-negotiable priority in your schedule

Last week I had a conversation with someone who wanted to build a solution to make my life easier.

In this phase of life, I'm prioritizing simplicity and focus by decluttering my digital space.

No more apps or reminders cluttering my phone—I'm streamlining my digital life.

Less is more. It means more for other things in my life.

My attention and time are the two limits in my life. I can't get more of it unless I cut other things away.

Digital minimalism isn't about adding more apps or tools—it's about embracing less.

It's a conscious choice to simplify our digital footprint and reclaim our time and attention for the things that truly matter.

Sometimes I spend days thinking about a task that takes me 20 minutes to do. Anyone else?

When we understand the underlying issues with procrastination we are able to address it properly.

I used to have this ugly persistent nagging sense of paranoia to my thoughts all the time whenever I was making a buy/sell decision when I worked in finance.

And I used to be worried what everyone was thinking all the time about those decisions.

Did I look smart? Stupid? Could I have done better?

Here are some insights from a meditation perspective on the art of not over-thinking:

Being Present: Meditation invites us to anchor our awareness in the present moment, allowing thoughts to come and go like passing clouds in the sky. By focusing on the sensations of the breath or the rhythm of our heartbeat, we can gently redirect our attention away from the incessant chatter of the mind and into the spaciousness of the here and now.

Witnessing the Mind: Rather than getting entangled in the web of our thoughts, meditation encourages us to adopt the role of a silent observer, watching the fluctuations of the mind with curiosity and compassion. Through this practice of detached observation, we learn to recognize that we are not our thoughts and that we have the power to choose how we respond to them.

Letting Go of Attachment: Over-thinking often arises from our attachment to specific outcomes or the need to control every aspect of our lives. In meditation, we practice surrendering the illusion of control and embracing the flow of life with openness and acceptance. By relinquishing our grip on the past and future, we create space for serenity and spontaneity to arise in the present moment.

Cultivating Inner Peace: As we deepen our meditation practice, we gradually cultivate a sense of inner peace that transcends the fluctuations of the mind. This inner peace becomes our anchor amidst the storms of over-thinking, offering refuge and solace in times of turmoil. Through regular meditation, we strengthen our capacity to remain centered and grounded, regardless of external circumstances.

When I worked in finance in really struggled with the information overload and decisions I needed to make.

I had little energy left for personal decisions such as what to eat, where to go on a trip etc. I just did everything impulsively.

But there are ways you can make life easier for yourself.

Decision fatigue refers to the deteriorating quality of decisions made by an individual with so many. choices.

It occurs when the mental resources required for decision-making become depleted, leading to poorer-quality decisions.

Decision fatigue can manifest as procrastination, avoidance of decision-making, or impulsivity.

Common symptoms include difficulty concentrating, increased stress levels, and reduced willpower.

It is often exacerbated by factors such as information overload, conflicting priorities, and perfectionism.

Strategies for managing decision fatigue include simplifying choices, prioritizing decisions, and taking mindful breaks to recharge.

Practicing mindfulness and self-awareness can help mitigate the effects of decision fatigue. So remember to take at least 1-5 minutes every hour to breathe and meditate.

Trying to change people is like rearranging the furniture in a house you don't own—it's exhausting and rarely effective. Instead, focus on accepting others as they are, supporting their growth, and leading by example.
