đĽThe science of chanting / mantra meditation
The mahÄ-mantra, composed of three sacred wordsâHare, KášášŁáša, and RÄmaâdiffers from material affirmations prevalent in the new age movement. Unlike affirmations like "I am aligned with the highest frequency of love" or "I deserve financial freedom," these words are not material; they hold a profound spiritual significance.
God, KášášŁáša, is non different from His names. Hence when chanting the mahÄ-mantra we are in His direct association.
In our material world, merely crying out "Water! Water! Water!" will not quench our thirst, as the word "water" and the substance itself are distinctly separate. However, in the spiritual realm, such a distinction ceases to exist. There, an object and its name, or a person and his name, are one. By vibrating the holy name of God, we establish a direct connection with Him, elevating ourselves to the spiritual platform. Unlike in the relative world, where a person's name and the person are separate, when we chant the MahÄ-Mantra, God is truly present before us, although imperceptible to our limited material senses.
KášášŁáša is always blissful, full of knowledge and eternal. He is full of wealth, power, fame, beauty, knowledge and renunciation. He has many more qualities.. So how can one remain disturbed in His association? In His association, disturbance vanishes, for KášášŁáša embodies the highest, most blissful energy. He is the essence of unconditional love and boundless joy. Being in His presence, the mind finds tranquility.
As ĹrÄŤla PrabhupÄda says:
This chanting of
Hare KášášŁáša Hare KášášŁáša
KášášŁáša KášášŁáša Hare Hare
Hare RÄma Hare RÄma
RÄma RÄmaHare Hare
is directly enacted from the spiritual platform, and thus this sound vibration surpasses all lower strata of consciousness
