A self-defeating behaviour that is guaranteed to ruin your life.

The tendency to blame others when things go wrong in life is a hallmark of self-sabotage. Blame triggers a dangerous downward spiral that leads to inaction and helplessness that just makes things worse. Blaming others feels good at first. It basically absolves you of any feelings of guilt or responsibility for the things that are going wrong in your life. However, it also reinforces the idea that your life is out of your control and that others can determine how life goes for you. This is disempowering and causes much inner turmoil. Eventually, by giving up on trying to change things, it can lead to even greater problems in your life. Your career goes nowhere, your relationship disintegrates, or your health deteriorates. It can also lead to feelings of anxiety and depression.

No one likes to take responsibility when things go wrong (even you). But are there instances where it can be beneficial for you? Find the answer inside.

An interesting article.

"Trigger" buttons are such buzzwords these days. Agree with the author that when someone says "I feel triggered," it signifies a strong emotional reaction, usually followed by blame and projection.

A trigger event causes an emotional flashback, where we feel very strong emotions, often uncontrollable. Most of us assume that the trigger was caused by the perpetrator, the person who did whatever occurred that caused our negative feelings. The truth is, each one of us has triggers that originate within ourselves. Other people are not responsible for our trigger responses. The trigger response only belongs to you/us. It resides within you and has something to do with an emotional injury from your past.
The way to eliminate trigger responses altogether is to work on healing the underlying emotional injury within yourself.

Healing can and will occur if you make a concerted effort to change.

Being accountable for your triggers leads to conflict resolution, healing, and transformation that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.

Timely to consider the licensure of counsellors... "Counsellors should be required to attend programmes fully certified by the Singapore Association for Counselling - SAC as training for registered counsellors prior to deployment in schools. School counsellors should also be provided opportunities for professional development and to update their skills as other certified and recognised training programmes continue to be released."
