Is your waistline a better indicator of health than your weight? With rising obesity rates in Asia, Prof Yeo Khung Keong, CEO of NHCS, emphasises the need to establish norms for the Body Roundness Index (BRI) for Asians based on larger data sets before relying on it.

“Healthcare providers and the public should consider multiple measures to assess metabolic health,” he says. While there are now drugs and surgical options to combat obesity, prevention is key, as treatment alone cannot reverse the tide of obesity.

The BRI has been found to be a better predictor of obesity and health risks than BMI. Read more at straitstimes.com.
