From the FEAR OF MISSING OUT to the JOY OF MISSING OUT

I heard someone say it at a gathering yesterday, and what a powerful statement.
I, myself, am so guilty of feeling FOMO, even though I wasn’t consciously aware of it, until I heard this.

That one more social, one more lunch meeting, the one more email for registration to an event that is really tempting, though I don’t even need it 😊
We tend to jump onto everything for the Fear of Missing out.

Let’s face it, the age of information overload doesn’t make it any easier for us.

And yet, the “Joy of Missing out” and using the time to do the things I really want to do, calls out very strongly to me!

Finding our joy is always about
- Taking a pause
- Checking within ourselves
- Doing what really resonates with our inner being
- Dropping all the rest

I am looking forward to experiencing this Joy in the coming weeks. How about you? 🌸

Change the thought and the feeling must change – Louise Hay

When I first understood it, it was revolutionary for me!

After a busy day at work, if I think

“I am soo tired, I can’t do anything else” -> That’s exactly how I will feel.

Alternatively, if I think

“I am tired, but I can spend 15 mins with my kids/partner” -> I will feel the energy and I will be able to do that

Of course, our automatic thoughts are coming from somewhere and that needs to be addressed.
However, just even connecting the dots between thoughts and feelings can be really helpful.

Depending on our current state in life, we can choose to

- Change the thought from negative to positive.
I can’t -> I can

- Change the thought from negative to a possibility.
I can’t at the moment -> But I would like to.

- Just start observing the relationship between our thoughts and feelings

Whatever our current state is, a little step up from that can take us a long way 🌸

“We are always supported; we are always cared for”.

My wonderful Reiki teacher’s voice echoes in my head, whenever I am in self-doubt, or in a seemingly difficult situation.

It took me a while to imbibe it and when I did, I understood that even when things are not the best and it feels like we are not supported, we actually are.

This is a lesson from spirituality, but even logically, we can see which belief really helps us

“I am in a difficult situation, and things seem to be falling apart.”
OR
“I am in this difficult situation, but I have faith/belief/hope that I can come out of it”

It can be the faith in the Almighty, belief in oneself, or the support of our loved ones. Wherever we can find it, this faith can bring miracles in our life.

And sometimes, when we are not used to choosing Faith, and it feels very difficult to choose it, with the last drop of your energy, try and choose FAITH 💕

It is easy to miss the things we are not looking to see.

This applies to our everyday lives too. We are so conditioned to living our lives a certain way that very often, we don’t even question ourselves.

“Why am I doing what I am doing”.

While coaching a client on diet control, she mentioned that she feels obliged to finish the food served to her when invited to someone’s house.
On asking why, she said, “Weren’t we taught as young children, to finish the food and not waste it. “
Yes, that is true, but kids are generally fussy eaters, and the parents do set such rules. But is that rule still serving me, now that I am an adult?
[ I am not talking about wasting food, it is about setting boundaries that is another topic]

And no judgement on this person, she is not the only one. I was like this, and I know many others who do the same.

This is all unconscious behavior, where we just operate out of habit.

We can only become more conscious, when we slow down, and reflect on our behaviours, especially the ones, that are not serving us.

Some of the ways we can learn to be more conscious
- Slow down, and observe our actions, our behavior, especially when triggered (start with a small concern first)
- Ask someone we trust for improvement points
- Meditate, it automatically brings a certain calmness and slowness
- Engage a coach

Becoming more mindful can help to remove a lot of accumulated, unwanted clutter.

What is it that you need to pay attention to that you possibly have missed so far?

“Be Yourself”, the voice in my head said, during my self-Reiki session. I had been thinking of a name for the company I wanted to set up after having left my corporate job of 20 years.

This was the perfect name ! I changed it to first person and that’s how “Being Myself” was born !

For years, I felt like I was not fully myself. I was reacting according to my conditioning, was inhibiting myself, was suppressing myself from expressing my emotions for the fear of being judged and being too sensitive.

As I started on the journey of self-discovery, I also started to understand how this sensitive side of me benefits me.

This sensitive side of me allows me to feel people’s emotions, and empathize with them, deeply.
It allows me to observe and understand human behaviour, analyze it, break it down, synthesize it, and then talk about it.

BEING MYSELF is not just a name for me, I try to imbibe it, and live by it, day in and day out.

Each time I tend to fall back into my conditioning that is not authentic to me, it is a reminder to bring me back to myself.

So, here I am, “Being Myself”, wholeheartedly, unapologetically and unabashedly.

And this is how I intend to be, from here on.

If this resonates with you, come join me on this beautiful journey and experience the joy of being yourself ♥️
