Welcome to Sculpture Society (Singapore)

The Sculpture Society is the first society in Singapore, dedicated to nurture public appreciation of sculpture as an art form. Established since 19 May 2001, it is a non-profit organisation, which is active in advocating the artistic development of its members through exhibitions, workshops and symposiums. The society was formed by a group of passionate individuals who were keen to enhance the artistic development of the art form through a tightly knit community of artists. Led by Han Sai Por, one of Singapore’s foremost sculptors, the founding members set their minds to provide a platform from which artistic discourse can flourish. The other founding members include highly regarded sculptors and artists namely, John Low, Baet Yoke Kuan, Chern Lian Shan, Lim Soo Ngee, and Chiang Jing Ying. To date, the society has over 60 members. Amongst them are prominent and renowned local artists, as well as emerging young artists, who work in multidimensional fields of sculpture. Their works have gained both local and international exposures.

Blending, nature and industry, fragility and strength, motion and stillness, the sunbird stands as a radiant symbol of vitality and renewal. Often seen as a harbinger of hope and progress, Its luminous wings capture the ever-shifting dance between light and form.

Title: LOVE

Dimension: 75(L) X 50(W) X 204(H)cm

Description: Throughout the history of art, many artists have taken up the challenge of sculpting LOVE, The KISS, or AFFECTION- from Rodin’s Affection, Robert
Indiana’s bold typography to Brancusi’s sculptural Love.
This piece is my personal answer to that enduring question: how does one give three-dimensional form to love? In LOVE. I seek not to idealize, but to distill to express the quiet, enduring power of connection through the simplest of forms.

Title: Memory Ride

Dimension: 70(L) X 80(W) X 60(H)cm

Description: This artwork is made from old items like cameras, snack boxes, and everyday things from the 1960s to 1980s in Singapore. Together, these objects form the shape of a person, representing the pioneer generation who helped build the country.
Each item holds a story and a memory.
As you look at the artwork, it’s like taking a memory ride through Singapore’s past-seeing how people lived, what they used, and what life was like.
This piece celebrates the hardworking spirit of our pioneers and hopes to pass their values-like resilience, unity, and care for others-to the next generation.

Title: PIGEON TOWER

Dimension: 29(L) X 29(W) X 98(H)cm

Description: Pigeon Tower traces the alienation of individual existence and the erosion of collective memory through the metamorphosis of living spaces.
The “pigeon cage” stands as modernity’s absurd epitaph-technology boasts liberation, yet condenses life into spatial confinement and spiritual exile.
Kampung mornings: Birdsong, neighbours rooster call, barefoot children laughing across muddy fields.
HDB reality now: Only the thud of laundry poles, the synthetic chime of elevators, the perfunctory knock of food delivery.
This sonic rupture demands accountability: We stack concrete toward the sky, while the warmth of community crumbles beneath our feet.

Title: Forever Trippy Cat

Dimension: 20(L) X 38(W) X 18(H)cm

Description: Swirled in candy chaos, this expressive cat is stuck between fantasy and reality with a playful yet eerie reminder of the stray lives we often overlook. Its marbled form melts between fantasy and reality, reminding us how vulnerable and strange the world can feel when we’re forgotten or lost.
Lost, melting, and waiting to be found. Just like this cat, they carry stories, longing for affection, warmth, and care. A stray soul dreaming of home.
Through this artwork, I hope to raise awareness for stray cats and consider adopting one. Adopted hearts purr louder. Meow!

Title: 金叶菊 [Jin Ye J6]

Dimension:40(L) X 37(W) X 23(H)cm

Description: 叶菊.or Chrysanthemum, draws
from the 1965 Teochew film of the same name, interpreting the bloom as a quiet vessel of cultural resilience.
The piece draws from motifs in
Teochew performance that which are both ornate yet composed, and delicate yet enduring. The layered petals, curled, evoke the traditional costume and the cross-generational metaphorical unfolding of identity.
It becomes not only a botanical form but also a symbol of diasporic memory and a nod toward the artist’s enduring heritage.
