What a year!!!

It has been an interesting and challenging 2021 for most. However, we celebrate the strength and discovery that comes with 2021.

The many warm and encouraging spirits that came into the studio and our lives were a constant reminder of why we celebrate everyday in our own ways.

A big thank you and shout out to all kindred spirits!

Thank you for making 2021 unique!

Merry blessings!

Pushing! Pushing!

G-Ma Shirl shows some serious arm power here!!

Ever since a “frozen shoulder” experience 20-years ago, she decided to build up some arm strength. Her own creative movement here can be done slow or at rapid fire speed!

As defence, she also uses her arms to “block” others who may accidentally or playfully walk into her path…. Self-protection!! Hi-yahhhh!!!!

She is still training to try out arm wrestling. Give her some time……..

Once ready, she will show you her “guns”!!

💪💪💪💪!

I just know how working from home can accumulate all that “angst” on our bottom!! 🙄🙄😳😳

So start this week right! Give your bottom a bit of love! Sharing this full “BOTTOM” workout. Wiggle your bottom around but importantly, get your pelvis moving so that it is not stuck to a chair!

Bring the stretches and movement into your back, hips and legs. Get your spine active in all planes by moving one end! Gyrate and bring fun and flow into your week ahead!!

My preggers and youths loved this little bottom exercises. Circulate the flow from the other end! Blood flow, I mean!!

Join in! Bottoms Up!!

The Bridge is a classical articulation movement (of the spine) that we all enjoy!

To be able to do so in a “fluid” manner, did you know you have to:
1. Envision your spine - bone by bone
2. Give your breath a rhythm
3. Rock your pelvis
4. Encourage pelvis to connect with spine
5. Complete your entire bridging movement with calmness (recruit muscles along the way)

This piece of exercise targets every part of the body and a good movement is not easy to perform! Challenges will come when you start to tweak little bits of the movement to allow “breath-thoughts” to come as one. Even my viscera enjoy the “upward” slide!

This may not be the best exercise for everyone if you are at different stages of spine concerns. As such, you are encouraged to inch your movement bit by bit and/or explore the breathing and visualisation of it!

Teaching this is a joy when we get the movement correct. What is even more joyful is when you understand what your body and mind can do.

Have fun articulating!

Stay Great! -🍎

Through ancient times, breath has been an important medicine to heal the body. It gets to the nervous system and opens up parts of us that we are unaware of. Calms your mind and brings better focus to your being.

Give your breathing patterns some thought. Athletes used it and so do the meditative monks in their line of focus.

Be aware of your breathing today!

Useful breathing.......

Working to find balance can be quite a challenge for some. However, with a little help from proper breathing, balance can make a difference.

In this little video, we have added in a breathing pattern to better give ourselves audible support! The loud exhale (from the mouth) with the firm step acts as a guarantee that one’s footing is sure. The loud inhale (through the nose) acts as if to lift the entire spirit up so as to stay afloat and buoyant.

Breathing helps to :
1. calm
2. give a rhythm to movement
4. works the pelvic floor
5. nourishes the brain/mind
6. provides an assurance

Try listening to your breathing when you move and when you lie down. The effect is so different! Try breathing through the nose and the mouth in an alternating manner. Try a loud breath. Try a soft breath. Try a huffing breath. Just give it a try!

Breathing regulates us!

Try listening to your breathing patterns today!

Losing balance or falling over or tripping can be a frightful experience for most. The constant fear can sometimes affect a person’s lifestyle and cause many restrictions.

The constant thought of “Oh no! Is this going to make me fall?”, can affect many decisions.

We hear some people in our studio say the same when they first started out but the important thing is that they gradually learn that they must stay DETERMINED to overcome this.

Simple exercises like breathing, core control, eye movements/focus and a WATCHFUL awareness for the positive can change that negative perception.

Try this simple exercise to see if it helps but stay DETERMINED to carry through! Hearing your own loud step may be helpful so it helps with an internal rhythm as well. Stomp on your steps at the start and turn the volume down gradually......

Have fun trying out!
