What we have been spreading over the last weekend: the cheese you sprinkle on your pizzas, causes baby cows to be killed. It's surprising, and most Singaporeans do not know about it. We feel the need for vegetarians, herbivores, animal lovers, and all conscious beings to know.

HEY. We are finally having our first booth for 2019! (We know, it's been a while.)

If you are looking for colourful and sugar-free snacks for yourself or your little ones, come and find us tomorrow! Time to swap out your Fruit Loops and Fruity Pebbles! These guys are coloured with nature's goodness like mango, turmeric, dragonfruit, kale and blue spirulina.

Catch us at the Loewens Farmer's Market tomorrow from 9am to 1pm. We have toddler-friendly cakes, brownies and vegan parmesan cheese for sale too.
We'll also be at GUI's 1st farmer's market from 1pm to 5pm (we won't be selling here but there'll be free tasting and sharing).

We'll be sharing our plans for a community too and part of the proceeds will go into our dream. Happy Friday!

“Put it in your mouth and try it!”

It’s always nice to go on a walk with a knowledgeable floral-fauna person, they can always spot things you’d otherwise just step on or walk past thinking it’s yet another w**d. But it’s not so nice when they start requesting to put random things in your mouth, especially when that leaf makes your tongue go numb.

Last weekend to Valentine’s Day. How about making something sweet?

Raw Carrot Cake
Makes an 8-inch cake

Ingredients
Cake
1½ cup almond flour
6 carrots, pureed
1 cup date paste
¼ cup unsweetened dessicated coconut
Zest of 1 orange
½ cup almond butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
¼ tsp salt
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup dried fruits (raisins, goji berries, etc.)

Date Paste
1¼ cup pitted fresh dates
¾ cup water

Frosting
1 tbsp coconut butter
½ cup cashews
½ cup brazil nuts
Juice of 1 orange
Zest & juice of ¼ lemon
⅛ cup maple syrup
⅛ cup water
½ tbsp sunflower lecithin
½ tsp vanilla extract

Method
1. Make date paste: Soak pitted dates in ¾ cup of water for 2 hours. Blend the softened dates together with the soaking water using a blender or food processor till a smooth paste is formed.
2. Make the cake: Using a blender or food processor, combine all ingredients except walnuts and dried fruits and blend to a paste of even consistency. Fold in chopped walnuts and dried fruits. Transfer cake batter into an 8 inch springform pan and place in freezer. Meanwhile, make the frosting.
3. Make the frosting: In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend to a smooth cream.
4. Assembling the cake: Remove the cake from the pan and spread frosting to the top and sides of the cake using a spatula or palette knife. Decorate by sprinkling chopped walnuts, dried fruits and dessicated coconut on top of the frosted cake. Slice and savour!

Variations / Substitutions
Replace almond butter with coconut butter for a firmer cake with a more tropical taste.

You just live off the land ‘cos the land will provide. I was in the bush for 6 weeks and the land provided. You just have to open your eyes. Go to the library, get a book on wild plants that you can eat, and you CAN’T eat - that’s very important because you don’t want to die in the forest, photocopy it and bring it along with you. We humans don’t need a lot, we only have to eat enough to fuel us with the energy we need till our next meal. I don’t eat wheat. I only eat food that’s organic, gluten-free and non-gmo. No artificial nonsense. Those are the things that will take years off your life. So I grow my own food in my garden. Potatoes, cauliflower, lettuce, cabbage, silverbeet, apples… I grow more so that I can share it with my neighbours just to see them smile because those smiles are worth a million dollars.

Your air at home is more polluted than what's out there. And we don't mean cigarette smoke.

Indoor air pollution is the top environmental danger we expose ourselves to every day, and much of this pollution comes from the cleaning products we use.
