🌿 Embracing Rest Days 🌿

On my rest days, I find solace in nature, whether it's strolling along the Rail Corridor or pedaling through the serene park.

After a refreshing ride on my beloved hand-me-down bike from i姐姐, I relish in giving it a good wipe down and maintenance session.

While tending to it, I ponder "does it truly matter? Will it enhance its longevity?"

-

It's interesting how during these mundane routines, insights unexpectedly emerge.

💡 Today, I noticed the front light facing inward instead of outward – a small detail, yet significant.

💡 As I cleaned further, I discovered the subtle signs of wear and tear, like the chain grazing against the bike frame.

🤗 I also reset the tire pressure to the recommended 43 psi, this gives a sense of readiness for any impromptu adventures that lie ahead.

-

🌿 In my natural therapy practice, I often encounter similar moments of revelation.

Discussions about seemingly unrelated bodily functions like bowel movements or sleep or perspiration can hold profound insights into our overall well-being. 🧘‍♀️🧘🧘‍♂️

Afterall it's all about circulation – the interconnectedness of our body's systems.

Just as we meticulously examine our bikes for signs of wear, we should also tune into our bodies with the same level of care and curiosity.

Asking questions like:

👉🏻 Did I prioritize my bodily needs today?
👉🏻 Did I give myself time to go toilet?
👉🏻 Able to perspire?
👉🏻 Do I move enough? Or sit a lot?
.. can provide invaluable insights into our health journey. 🔎

-

As you embark on your day, take a moment to tune in. Listen feel sense attentively, for it often holds the answers we seek.

🌿 Embrace Organic Living 🌿

Dr. Lai, my teacher, underscores the significance of embracing organic living, leading by example in his diet and attire choices.

🔎 Ever checked your clothing labels like you do with food?

It's a game-changer!

Just as we scrutinize food packaging, let's extend that to clothing.

- 100% cotton, linen, or h**p?
- 100% polyester?
- Or a blend?

Why does it matter?

✅ What touches our skin matters.

✅ Our skin, a vast surface, craves breathability and comfort.

✅ Opting for natural fibers over plastic-based materials makes a world of difference.

-

🌏 Moreover, consider the impact on our planet.

🌊 🌊 🌊 🌊 🌊

Every wash ages our clothes, releasing microplastics into waterways if they're laden with synthetics. 🐟 These microplastics find their way into 🐠🐡🦦 marine life, 🐙🦀ultimately reaching our plates.

Yet, I acknowledge nuances. Sometimes, a limited percentage of synthetic materials serves a purpose, like reinforcing garment structure (eg. neckline).

🧘‍♀️ 🧘 🧘‍♂️

It's about balance. ⚖️

❤️ For the environment
❤️ For ourselves

Let's cultivate the habit of reading clothing labels and supporting organic options.

Not a post about health health. But a post about the mind, belief. A well written post from Minister ET, of a true sportsman story to remember & inspired for a very very long time. ❤️

"The power of first believing in ourselves that we can achieve, and then going on to do it."

🌟 Grateful for Encounters 🌟

🙏🏻 Earlier this year, I had the privilege of meeting Dr. C, an experienced Chinese physician. She reminded me of the dedication and discipline found in a gymnast's training (like how 扎马步/一字马 are tough but fundamental basic foundation).

She patiently guided me through the pronunciation of herb names, ensuring accuracy.

🌿 葛根 gé gēn - I repeated several times til getting it right.

-

🌞 Today, my rest day, wandering through the mall in search of an essential oil-based product. Amidst the hustle, I spotted a Mandarin-speaking gentleman holding the door for others, accompanied by his wife and grandchild.

A familiar face! 🤗 I greeted him with a smile, and to my delight, he was heading in a direction similar to mine.

✨ This gentleman, as it turned out, is a fluent Mandarin-speaking actor. I couldn't resist the opportunity to seek advice on improving my own language skills. ✨

While my fluency in both English and Mandarin is a work in progress, my therapy work often demands clear and concise communication, especially the need to explain intricate ancient philosophies.

Speaking fluently not only a respect to others but also conserves energy. Hence, I strive for clarity and efficiency.

The actor's advice resonated deeply:
1. Learn Hanyu Pinyin.
2. Master intonation.

For illustration, consider these examples:
- zhá jī (油炸)鸡 fried chicken
- zhà jī (爆炸)鸡 chicken explosion

Same word with different intonation!

Cheers to continuous learning and growth! 🌱

Feeling sad? A little story from Dr. Zhang YF to share 🙏🏻

"In China's Jin dynasty (265 -420), the famous doctor Zhang Zihe once treated a patient whose father was killed by a thief.

Sorrow & tears caused him chest pressure and heartache, with the symptoms increasing over time, becoming worse.

He reached out to the most famous doctors for medical treatment and accepted all kinds of drug formulas, but he gained nothing.

When Dr. Zhang met the client, he happened to run into a witch at the patient's home. Inspired by the witch's ways, he combined various weird and funny physical gestures to make fun of the witch, which humored the patient and made him laugh.

Two days later, his chest pressure and heartache were alleviated without the use of medicine."

PK: Years ago, a young lady was rejected by a young man whom she likes a lot. And the rejection was through a group chat which everyone else in the company saw.

After understanding her situation & taking pulse, I proceeded to do a natural therapy for her. At the last step... I turned to her co-worker who has been working in another room.

I said "lets sing karaoke 🎤 now!"

Actually I am a horrible singer. Nonetheless singing will smooth the Liver 疏肝. It is also joyful activity (thereby increasing the power of Fire Happiness which deters Metal Sorrow from overpowering).

Days later. She told me her me**es came earlier and larger volume than usual. This is common. The body needs a channel to flush out the emotions.

Blocked Chi can be regulated.

Stagnant Chi can be cleansed.

To you ...

If you are sad now,
• wear a little red,
• eat a little bitter food,
• go exercise to pump up your heart rate!
These belongs to Fire Element ❤️.

Or sing or
walk in nature (Wood Element 💚).

You will feel better. Tomorrow is a brand new day. 🙏🏻

🌿 Wood becomes water?

In ancient times when education isn't as common as today, words are treated with deep respect. In Classical Medicine, practitioners practice on a daily basis of mindfulness.

Wood doesn't give rise to Water.

Water is raised from Metal.

• 木生火 Wood burns & become 🔥
• 火生土 🔥 becomes soil
• 土生金 Soil give rise to Metal
• 金生水 Metal give rise to Water
(• 水生木 & the cycle continues)

How does this Five Elements relate to you?

Think metabolism. Each season, one organ takes a leading role. Right now, it is:
• Water element
• Winter
• Black
• Kidneys
• Pulse should be 沉

Are you thriving? Or not? Is your body in sync with the current season? Or not?

As I often shared, life isn't a sudden departure (with some rare exceptions). Its a gradual journey. Like a portable battery, over time, you have output, but not connected to power socket, one day the battery runs flat.

An interesting book name. Some found it confusing (as mentioned by author). But for those who understands, it brought a little smile, and the intention to read further.

Words are like keys that open doors.

Self-Care TLC 🤗🤟🏻: recently a client shared a persistent neck shoulder issue, prompting us to investigate and regulate her YQM distribution channel.

At times its not the channel has no Chi 氣. It can be a distribution issue. Like parcels kept in the warehouse and didn't get send out.

☝🏻 What do WE do?
Reconnect. Circulate it.

✌What can YOU do?
Keep it warm.

Here's the Happy Tip: try wearing a neck scarf! Its a simple addition to your routine (very useful). Especially in AC or windy conditions. I do that. Surprisingly my teacher French gentleman Dr Regis B, does the same! 🎐🍃❄️🌨️

• The neck has 7 bones by itself
• The back has 12 bones (mostly hugged and reinforced by rib cage)
• The lumbar has 5 bones by itself

Needless to guess which spoils first 😸

Two prong approach =
☝🏻YQM circulation + ✌Self-Care TLC

My teacher, Dr Lai SL ☺️

In the past, whenever I see seniors kneeling down to kowtow to Dr Lai, I feel puzzled.

The first time Dr Lai & I met was 9 years ago at his school cm residence at Tian Shan estate.

A month ago, with good fate I met Dr Lai again. Somehow I felt the urge to kneel down. And I did.🌿

Dr Lai is a Chinese medicine doctor while his wife is a western medical physician. Both of them have been living in the States comfortably.

His teacher, late Zen master Nan Huaijin wanted him to come back. To teach traditional culture. One day people are so wealthy but has no culture. This task is important.

Due to COVID-19 both Dr Lai & I have not seen each other for these years. With good fate, so good to see him once again.

My sharing about organic actually came from Dr Lai. Hence I was proud to let him know my clothing I wore that day is made from organic cotton.

Dr Lai was delighted. And pointed to his clothes "mine organic cotton too"!

Good for the wearer
Good for the harvester
Good for the environment 🌿
