What is the Middle Way?
In the space of mindfulness and Buddhism, the concept of the Middle Way is often discussed.
It teaches us just that โ a path of moderation and balance, without the extremes.
Regardless of religion, much of its wisdom can be applied to all of us living in a rather complex world.
In todayโs world, so much of human suffering is being attributed to our tendency to perceive the world in dualities:
๐กGood/ Bad
๐กSuccess/ Failure
๐กBeautiful/ Ugly
๐กLight/ Darkness
๐กHappy/ Sad
This binary thinking leads to attachment and aversion.
And they cause so much unnecessary pain and suffering.
The Middle Way is about understanding and navigating through lifeโs opposites.
Itโs recognizing that happiness and suffering, gain and loss, praise and blame are all part of life.
Mindfulness teaches us to be aware of these opposites, so that we can move towards maintaining a stable and peaceful mind.
