The Cat Stretch, a core component of the STOTT PILATES® Matwork repertoire, is utilized primarily as a warm-up sequence to promote spinal articulation and mobility across all segments of the vertebral column.
Some pointers to take note:
- Ensure hands are under the shoulders and knees under the hips
- Maintain spine's natural curve
- Ensure the movement flows sequentially from the tailbone to the cervical spine
- Return slowly and with control
- Align breathing with movement
