The "Lift and Lower" on reformer is a masterpiece of pelvic stability and eccentric control. A leg exercise in disguise, but it’s a great challenge for core stability.
✅
Maintain imprinted spine, rib cage and tailbone stays heavy on the mat, maintain lumbar-pelvic connection, engage the mid-stance, movement driven by the hips, controlled lifting of legs, resist the pulling of straps with hamstrings and glutes
❌
Overarching, abdomen popping out, leading movement with the feet, lowering your legs too much, lifting the glutes as you return, uncontrolled return, tensed shoulders and neck
Here's Elaine guiding us how to look out for the common mistakes while doing Lift and Lower!
