📢 Important Legislative Change for Foreigners and Businesses in Slovakia
The Ministry of the Interior of the Republic has introduced an amendment to the Foreigners' Residence Act, bringing significant improvements for foreign workers, refugees, and businesses:
🔹 Digitalization of Residence Processes – Upcoming digital services will simplify communication and expedite application processing. Less bureaucracy, more transparency, and reduced stress for foreigners.
🔹 ID Cards for Ukrainian Refugees – These will replace paper documents and meet European standards. A safer solution that will facilitate residence verification in Slovakia and across the EU.
🔹 Reduced Bureaucracy for Businesses – Instead of submitting three months of bank statements, companies will only need to provide a balance confirmation.
We believe this is a significant step in the right direction. The current situation has become unsustainable and stressful for foreigners coming to Slovakia. Complicated processes, limited appointment availability, and often uncooperative police officers worsen the experience for those applying for temporary and permanent residence (appointments for which have long been unavailable) and visas. This also damages the country’s reputation in the eyes of newcomers.
🔆 The changes are expected to come into effect on December 15, 2024. We sincerely hope they will help improve the situation we have been struggling with for months.
