Exactly one week after His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio commissioned a 128-slice CT Scan machine and an ultra-modern burns unit at Connaught Hospital alongside new buses, mobile workshop vehicle, and utility vehicles in Bo City; the Government has continued to advance healthcare transformation across the country. Yesterday, Saturday 11th April 2026, the leadership of the Ministry of Health, led by Dr. Austin Demby officially unveiled a brand new Revolution CT scan machine with 64-slice capability and a modern 4D ultrasound machine at the Kenema Regional Government Hospital
The event also featured the official handing over of keys for one staff bus and one utility vehicle to the hospital’s management, aimed at improving mobility and operational efficiency for healthcare workers. The ceremony was witnessed by key stakeholders including the Deputy Minister of Basic Education, the Resident Minister, the Majority Leader of Parliament, the Mayor of Kenema City Council, civil society representatives, and other partners, demonstrating strong national commitment toward strengthening healthcare delivery.
The introduction of advanced diagnostic equipment is expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions. According to the Minister, these investments will benefit not only residents of Kenema but also patients from surrounding communities and neighbouring districts, reducing the need for referrals to distant facilities and improving timely access to specialized care.
Taking the Minister and delegation through the Radiology Department, Dr. Jay Kabba, a Government Radiologist Consultant, explained that the hospital now has trained and qualified personnel capable of operating the CT scan machine and accurately interpreting results. She further highlighted the wide range of diagnostic services the equipment will provide, noting that this development will significantly strengthen healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes across the Eastern Region.
