OVULATION π₯
Ovulation is the phase in the menstrual cycle where your o***y releases an egg (o**m).
*This egg can only be fertilized 12-24 hours after release*, and chances of getting pregnant are highest when s***m is already in the fallopian tubes during ovulation.
Note π
Fertile S***m can live up to five days inside a woman's body.
HOW TO CALCULATE OVULATION ?
1. TRACK YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE LENGTH
- The first step is to track the length of your menstrual cycle for some months.
β’ Your cycle length is calculated from the first day of your period to the first day of your next period.
β’ Example: If your period starts on Day 1, and your next period starts on day 29, your cycle length is 28 days.
2. UNDERSTAND THE OVULATION WINDOW
- Ovulation typically occurs 14 days before your next period.
So, if you have a 28 day cycle, ovulation would be on the 14th day.
- If your cycle is longer or shorter, subtract 14 days from your cycle length. For example:
- β - If you have a 30 day cycle, ovulation is 30-14 = 16. Your ovulation is on the 16th day.
- If you have a 26 day cycle, ovulation is 26-14 = 12. Your ovulation is on the 12th day.
14 is a constant number π
3. MONITOR PHYSICAL SIGNS OF OVULATION
Some signs show youβre ovulating;
- Your cervical mucus becomes clear, white and slippery just like raw egg whites
- Your body temperature rises slightly after ovulation (0.5 to 1 degree Fahrenheit)
- Some women feel a slight twinge of pain during ovulation
WHEN IS YOUR FERTILE WINDOW?
Your fertile window lasts for 7 days; 5 days before ovulation and a day after. Having s*x (in*******se) during this time gives you the best chance of getting pregnant.
So, if your ovulation is on the 16th, your fertile window is from 11th to 17th (7 days).
If itβs on the 21st, your fertile window is 16th to 22nd.

HOW TO KNOW YOUR FREE PERIODS ???
Your free periods are before ovulation, and after ovulation.
In a 28 day cycle, your fertile window typically occurs between Day 9 and Day 15. The free period would be:
- Before ovulation: From days 1-7
- After ovulation: From days 16-28
IMPORTANT TO KNOW;
- Your free periods may vary based on your cycle regularity.
If your cycles are irregular, it would be harder to pinpoint your exact fertile and free days
Other methods you can use;
- Ovulation prediction kits
- Cervical mucus method
- Basal body temperature
Itβs important to work with a gynecologist if youβre trying to get pregnant, or have irregular periods.
