For the past three years, war has forced, thousands to flee . Many crossed into with nothing.

Guisma fled with her five children: “We had nothing to eat… nothing to keep us warm.”

Today, there are signs of progress.
✔️ A home
✔️ School for her children
✔️ Access to healthcare

But survival is still fragile.
Women like Shaima are rebuilding their lives: “We make soap and share the profits.”

From loss to resilience. From survival to hope.

But they cannot do it alone. 💙

More than 33,000 Congolese refugees have returned home from in just one month, many after fleeing violence late last year.

But for many families, returning home has not meant returning to normal life. Homes have been destroyed, belongings looted, and basic services like water, shelter and healthcare are urgently needed.

Some families are arriving with almost nothing. Others are struggling to rebuild in fragile conditions.

At the same time, humanitarian support remains critically underfunded, putting both returnees and those still displaced at risk.

These families deserve to return in safety and dignity. Urgent support is needed now to help them rebuild their lives.

During her visit to Burkina Faso, Ruvend Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, met displaced women in Kaya who were forced to flee their homes because of violence.

Many have lost everything: their houses, their livelihoods, and the support networks they once relied on.

Yet what stood out most was their courage and resilience. These women are working together, building small businesses, supporting one another, and helping their communities recover.

They are not only rebuilding their own lives, but also helping to rebuild hope for everyone around them.

Across Burkina Faso, UNHCR works alongside the government and local communities to protect people forced to flee and support efforts to rebuild resilience.

As the Sudan war approaches its fourth year, the humanitarian situation remains critical. Millions of people have been forced to flee their homes. Families are separated. Children are growing up in uncertainty.

For many refugees, basic survival—shelter, clean water, food, healthcare—is a daily struggle. Humanitarian agencies are urgently appealing for increased support to protect forced displaced people and assist host communities who continue to show solidarity despite limited resources.

This crisis is not over. people still need protection, solidarity, and hope.
