Somaliland Public Health Research Organizaton (SOPHRO) is an organizaton established in 2017 which owned by the Somaliland youth health community that serves the development of public health in
Somaliland. This organizaton is not religious, politcal or personal interest, but in general, it is
an organizaton that stands for the development of social issues, especially health issues,
according to the mission and vision of this organizaton (SOPHRO) it was established to deal with and work with the basic needs of the Somaliland community.
The main reasons for the establishment of this organizaton are:
After we saw the need to have a center in the country to gather health research in the
country.
After we saw that the role of public Health in our society is empty such as awareness,
hygiene and preventon of infectous diseases.
After we saw the need for health service delivery to the entre community from rural to
urban.
The Sophro Organization is a member of Word Federation of Public Health Associations which is international, nongovernmental organization composed of multidisciplinary national public health associations and It is the only worldwide professional society representing and serving the broad field of public health.
SOPHRO has been approved at the last General Assembly on 2nd May within this year 2023.
The SOPHRO is a nonprofit organization which are generally founded to serve a Public Health, Humanitarian and Environmental need
The SOPHRO organization is open all Somaliland people those study fields of health.
Sophro organization is for stand all these purposes:
-- To act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work;
-- To promote technical cooperation;
-- To assist Governments, upon request, in strengthening health services;
-- To furnish appropriate technical assistance and, in emergencies, necessary aid, upon the request or acceptance of Governments;
-- To stimulate and advance work on the prevention and control of epidemic, endemic, and other diseases;
-- To promote, in cooperation with other
specialized agencies where necessary, the improvement of nutrition, housing, sanitation, recreation, economic or working conditions, and other aspects of environmental hygiene;
-- To promote and coordinate biomedical and health services research;
-- To promote improved standards of teaching and training in the health, medical and related professions;
-- To establish and stimulate the establishment of international standards for biological, pharmaceutical, and similar products, and to standardize diagnostic procedures;
-- To foster activities in the field of mental health, especially those activities affecting the harmony of human relations.
