Lou Nuer Community Not Happy With Dr Riek G*i Kok Demotion As Jonglei State Governor

The persistent sidelining of qualified Lou Nuer leaders within the SPLM-IG remains a big issue and annoys the Lou Nuer community, highlighting the party’s preference for loyalty over merit. Despite their extensive experience and qualifications, figures like Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin and Racheal Nyadak Paul have been systematically demoted, reduced to insignificant roles in committees rather than holding ministerial positions. Their marginalization reflects a broader trend in SPLM-IG, where intellectual capability is undervalued, and blind allegiance is rewarded.

The recent appointment of Dr. Riek G*i Kok as a governor instead of a minister further cements this pattern, continuing the habit of diminishing Lou Nuer leaders despite their contributions. The question then arises: why do our most qualified leaders accept such treatment? Why do they allow themselves to be used as mere lapdogs in a system that neither values nor respects them? Young Lou Nuer are watching, and the message being sent is clear—loyalty to SPLM-IG comes at the cost of dignity and recognition.
