Based on our live video last week regarding men's perspective on menstrual health management and how they can offer support. Here are a few take aways:
1. Educate yourself about menstruation. This means learning about the biological processes involved, the different symptoms that women may experience, and the different menstrual products and practices that are available. There are many resources available online and in countless books.
2. Be a supportive listener. If a woman is talking to you about her menstrual health, listen without judgment or making jokes. Offer your support and let her know that you are there for her.
3. Be proactive. Don't wait for women to ask for help. Offer to pick up menstrual products, take out the trash, or do other things that might make her life easier during her period.
4. Challenge stigma and taboos. Men can help to break down the stigma and taboos that surround menstruation by talking about it openly and honestly. This can help to make women feel more comfortable talking about their periods and seeking the support they need.
5. Be an advocate for menstrual equity. This means working to ensure that all women have access to affordable menstrual products and services, regardless of their income or social status.
6. Be aware of the laws and policies that affect menstrual health. This includes laws about access to menstrual products, education about menstruation, and discrimination against women who are menstruating.
7. Support organizations that are working to improve menstrual health. There are many organizations working to make menstrual health more accessible and equitable. You can donate your money, time, or skills to help them achieve their goals.
8.Speak out against menstrual stigma and taboos. When you hear someone making a joke or comment about menstruation, challenge them. Let them know that it is not okay to make light of something that is so important to women's health.
By taking these steps, men can play an important role in supporting women's menstrual health. Hence, help to create a world where all women can have healthy and dignified menstrual experience.
Call to action:
Dear men lets break the silence around menstruation and help to create a more understanding and supportive environment for women. This is because periods are not our enemy they are just there to show what is working in a woman's body and what is not PERIOD!
