It has been 8 years since we opened our New Dawn Residential Program. Since that time, 32 residents have graduated and we have had the opportunity to completely change the story for them and their families. In addition, we have had a ripple effect on their schools and communities.

Our program continues to be the only residential treatment option in El Salvador for kids and teens with serious drug and alcohol abuse issues. They are their families don't have anywhere else to go, and we continue to have a waiting list.

As time goes on, our program is in need of some basic renovations. Each time a boy goes through our program, it costs us approximately $5,000 in treatment costs. In addition, we have a leaky roof, furniture that needs to be replaced, a kitchen in need of repair, and a need of improvements to our crisis room.

The summer months are lean ones for donations, so we ask that you consider helping us meet some of these needs through a one-time or recurring gift for our New Dawn Residential Program. Youth in El Salvador look to these home for recovery...will you help us renovate it?

Our Lighthouse Resource Center clients recently participated in a Financial Workshop designed to help those who have a job or a small business organize their monthly budget. It's exciting to see how motivated many of our clients are to save and work toward their goals!

As we wrap up this month of honoring fathers, we had a big Father's Day Celebration to honor the fathers in the Lighthouse Resource Center. For many men , they have a complicated relationship with their own fathers and perhaps with their own children. We took time today to help turn them toward their heavenly Father, to celebrate them as those beloved by God, and to enjoy some games, prizes, and smoked pork! Thank you @ for sponsoring!

Estamos muy agradecidos por el espacio que nos brindó Agustín Aguirre, experto en el modelo IFS (Sistemas de Familias Internas). Nos retó a reflexionar y nos invitó a aprender más sobre este enfoque para la sanación del trauma, que ha ayudado a muchos de nosotros a sanar y a aprender a guiar a otros hacia la sanación.

We are so grateful for the space to learn from Augustin Aguirre, an expert in the IFS (Internal Family Systems) model. He challenged us to think and invited us to learn more about this approach to trauma healing that has helped many of our staff gain healing for themselves and learn how to lead others toward healing as well.

Did you know that June is Immigration Heritage Month in the U.S.? For decades there has been immigration from El Salvador to the U.S., and there are many complex issues surrounding immigration in general, and immigration from Central America specifically.

As we interact with the complex issues surrounding immigration, it's important to understand that the words we use have power, and that dignifying and humanizing language is important. Understanding the terms around these complex issues can also be helpful.

Take a moment and learn little bit about the issues surrounding immigration from Central America to the U.S. We are always available to dialogue if you have questions or want to learn more!
