Big news, Manzini! 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ The media briefing for our Walk to Work initiative was a huge success, and the energy is electric!

Our Regional Administrator, Prince Chief Gija Dlamini, set the stage, calling on the entire region to embrace a healthier lifestyle. He made it clear: this is a top priority for the wellness of our people.

Then, our very own Mayor, Hon. Wesley Dlamini, brought the fire! 🔥 He spoke straight to the heart of why this matters:
✅ Fighting NCDs: Walking is a simple, powerful weapon against diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure.
✅ Boosting Mental Health: It's a natural way to reduce stress, clear your mind, and improve your mood.

We were also honoured to have a key champion of this initiative, Dr. Sibongile Ndlela Simelane, the National Executive Director of AMICAALL Eswatini. Dr. Simelane provided the expert backbone for the campaign, detailing how AMICAALL's extensive work in public health will ensure this initiative has a lasting and meaningful impact on the ground.

This is set to be a first-of-its-kind event for our region, marking a historic moment in our collective journey towards wellness.

Our leaders are not just talking the talk; they are ready to walk the walk! This is a call to action for every single citizen in the Manzini region.

Commemorating World AIDS Day under the theme "Eswatini Overcoming Disruptions Transforming the AIDS Response". Leaders from across the Manzini region joined hands and got together for a powerful event dedicated to unity, remembrance, and renewed action in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

We were deeply honoured to have The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Appolo Maphalala, deliver the keynote address. The Minister's powerful words reinforced the critical link between sustainable urban development and public health, reminding us that healthy cities are the foundation of a healthy nation.

A key highlight was the collective presence of the Mayors from all towns in the Manzini region. Their solidarity demonstrates a unified regional commitment to tackling the health challenges that face our communities.

Speaking on behalf of the Mayors, the Chairperson of the Mayors' Forum, Hon. Thulani Mkhonto, shone a spotlight on the incredible, on-the-ground work being done by AMICAALL Eswatini. The presentation showcased how AMICAALL is innovatively promoting public health right where people live, work, and play. Their integrated approach to:
🛡️ HIV Prevention
🩺 Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) control
🤕 Injury prevention
💚 Mental Health support
..is transforming our town spaces into hubs for wellness and creating a healthier future for all residents.

This World AIDS Day, we are reminded that the fight is far from over, but with strong leadership, dedicated partners, and united communities, we can achieve the goal of an AIDS-free generation.

AMICAALL Eswatini—in collaboration with Manzini Municipality—has a targeted employee welfare program for local businesses, delivering integrated health sessions addressing mental health, HIV prevention/management, and NCDs directly within workplaces. This initiative strategically leverages municipal infrastructure, the municipality clinic and other health care providers in & around the town, and AMICAALL’s community health expertise to provide confidential screenings, psychoeducation, and treatment linkages, acknowledging the unique stressors and health risks faced by Manzini’s workforce. By embedding these services through this tripartite partnership, the program not only enhances individual well-being and productivity but also operationalizes Eswatini’s national health integration strategy at the grassroots level. This creates sustainable access points for comprehensive care, reduces stigma and fragmentation in health delivery, and ultimately strengthens the town’s service provision capacity and economic resilience.
