Christmas looks different for everyone.
We talk about it as a season of joy and togetherness.
But for so many, it also carries grief, absence, memories, and having the strength to get through.
Someone is setting a place at the table for someone who will never sit there again.
Someone is holding it together for their children while their own heart maybe hurting
Someone is grieving a parent, a partner, a sibling, a child.
Someone is facing their first Christmas without their loved one.
Someone feels numb, not because they don’t care, but because caring hurts too much right now.
Someone is surviving the season rather than celebrating it.
Someone is honouring a memory in silence.
Someone is crying alone so they don’t fall apart in front of everyone else.
Someone is just making it through the day.
Christmas has never been just one thing.
It holds joy and grief side by side.
Presence and absence.
Love and longing.
Sending love to all those that need it today ❤️
There is no right way to do Christmas.
There is only your way.
And if all you can do is breathe, light a candle, and get to the next day; that is enough.
Throughout this season, please , check in on people.
Please do not just text “are you okay?”
Go be with them, Sit with them, deeply Listen. Stay a little longer.
You never know what someone is carrying this season. If you have the strength, hold space for another . It can have a huge impact 🙏🏽❤️
