🤍 MATERNITY LEAVE 🤍

I am now “officially” on maternity leave!

Whilst I will not be doing any face to face consultations for the next few months, I will still be active behind the scenes. I have a few new resources in development and will be documenting my own postpartum journey and recovery (or at least trying to, between sleep deprivation and general mum life!!)

If you have any questions or would like information about THRIVE’s services while I am on maternity leave, I will still be available on WhatsApp, email or Instagram, so do reach out via the links in my bio.

Much love,
Tor x

🤰~ THE SECOND TRIMESTER ~

A slightly delayed update on my pregnancy, but a nice chance to reflect back on the second trimester.

Whilst it was DEFINITELY a lot more enjoyable than the first trimester, I have found pregnancy on the whole a lot tougher both physically and mentally second time round.

What I have particularly enjoyed:
🏋️‍♀️ my amazing group workouts with - a true highlight of my week.
👧 seeing my toddler get excited at the prospect of a new sibling, and spending time with her discussing all that’s happening with my rapidly changing body.
🤰 watching my body change and adapt as our baby grows, trying to take moments of calm each day to really take in the incredible magic that’s happening (even on the days where pregnancy feels anything but magical!)

The less enjoyable parts:
💥 Pelvic girdle pain, which kicked in around 19 weeks. It has not been severe but certainly enough to reduce my walking (speed and distance) and make me adapt to doing different, more targeted exercises to help manage it. For now, it seems to have settled a bit, so let’s see what the next trimester holds!
↕️ growth spurts - each time little one had a significant growth spurt in this trimester, it totally wiped me out! An unwelcome return of nausea, fatigue and headaches for around a week, then back to normal again!

As I enter the third and final trimester I’m feeling healthy, strong, and excited (and a bit tired, because )

Any recommendations for managing the third trimester and transitioning from 1 to 2 small humans?! Please share below!

Out of office ON.

I am now away until Monday 22nd April. Please bear with me if I take a little longer to reply to enquiries or messages during this time.

I will be back with as much energy as I can muster for the final couple of months before I go on maternity leave, with lots of exciting things in the pipeline!!

If you’re considering booking an assessment for Mummy MOT, Scar Therapy or any of my other services, reach out soon to ensure you can book in before I finish work in June.

Happy Songkran everyone!!

A personal one from me today.

I’m celebrating six years of being bionic! Six years on from a loooong awaited scoliosis correction which completely changed my life. These last 6 years have been FULL of big moments, but it all started with that surgery.

A lengthy rehab, 2 international relocations, 6 house moves, 2 new businesses, navigating a global pandemic, 2 pregnancies, 1 c-section and further rehab, so many adventures and incredible memories.

It has also been the catalyst for so much of my shift in passion and direction work-wise. Training and specialising in scar therapy and women’s health has reignited my love of physio and I’m so excited to see where it leads over the coming years.

Maybe I’m feeling extra big feelings about this because I’m pregnant and generally quite emotional 🥹 but I will be forever grateful for my titanium spine and everything it has allowed, and will continue to allow, me to do and experience. It has afforded me a life I’d almost stopped even daring to dream of. Next up; finish growing baby number 2 🤰

International Women’s Day 2024.

To all the women who have supported me in both my personal and professional lives; I thank you.

To all the many women who continue to inspire me to learn more, do better, and pursue my passion to help improve support and care in pelvic and women’s health; I am so grateful for you.

Keep an eye on my stories for the details of some of the accounts which inspire and inform me daily through these little squares. This online community can be so incredible at times, and this, of all days, is a great excuse to be a cheerleader for others.

🗣️ Shout this loudly: Diastasis Recti is a NORMAL part of pregnancy!

💯 100% of pregnant women will have some degree of abdominal separation by 35 weeks gestation. Research states that up to 6cm of stretch is considered normal in the final few weeks of pregnancy.

🆗 This is NOT an indicator that you are destined for issues postnatally. It is NOT because of anything you have done. It is NOT your fault. It is a natural physiological change to allow your incredible body the space to grow your baby.

📖 The good news is that despite limited research-backed understanding of the risk factors, there are lots of things that we DO know to be beneficial in managing this both during pregnancy and postnatally.

✅ core exercises are safe during pregnancy
✅ early reconnection with your breath, core and pelvic floor postnatally are hugely beneficial in recovery.
✅ managing intra abdominal pressure can help in pregnancy (eg reducing constipation, breath work, pelvic floor exercises, strength training)
✅ adequate nutrition, hydration, stress management, and sleep are really important.
