His appetite is low but he can eat via our staff's feeding and he can drink some water. His kidney function is in the normal range showing in blood examination and produces normal quantity of urine. E. Canis infection was found by blood examination. Other vital signs and blood results are normal.
After receiving blood transfusion yesterday, his red blood cell increased pass upon critical line leading to improved oxygen level in his bloodstream. Also, platelet cell count is improved into normal range which should be closely under observation.
Injured wound shows sign of inflammation and infection. Under this area, chest X-ray shows few fractured ribs on the left side without evidence of thoracic wall rupture. The veterinarians who have been treating Loyd have given antibiotics and performed wound dressing. Laser therapy would be on plan in the near future.
However, his overall symptoms need to be monitored carefully on a daily basis.
On the positive side, he has an optimal number of donors who are ready for blood donating when the requests are approached.
On the other hands, there are many cases everyday who need help for blood transfusion at KUVTH
We are continually appealing for blood donations as stock at Blood Bank Unit has been dented by the high number of cases.
If you would like to bring your dogs or cats to donate blood for another patients, our KUVTH blood bank is open as usual.
Today, for Loyd’s condition, the patient is responding well to treatment although he is still admitted in KUVTH critical care unit.
