Behing EM Quartier When I first arrived in China in 1994 for my 2 years of Mandarin studies, I was 23 years old and the best part of every day was joining hundreds of Chinese women & men of all ages practising together what they will later teach me as “harmonious ageing and health preservation”. Even though I didn’t know anything at that time about Chinese Medicine, Qi flow in the meridians and yin yang balance, I felt comfort, peace and some kind of universal connection. After having spent 15 years in China, I still believe that Qigong & Taiji group park practice is what keeps the Chinese society together, balances the generation and income inequality gap and enables happy and joyful ageing. I have seen Medical Qigong practices in public hospitals to ease pain, treat different pathologies, anaesthetise before surgeries or just regulating moods and mindsets. And when I started having difficulties coping with the Corporate pressure, long working hours and stress related insomnia, I decided to get my first Qigong Master – Liu Shifu in Beijing in 2005. He teached me the general principles of Heaven – Earth connection, the tree pose, the 5 elements and the 5 animals in a very traditional Chinese way : meaning endless repetition of the same movement, enjoying the Plateau and the goalless process of mastery. I experienced excitement, discouragement, loss of motivation and finally intense satisfaction. Moving to Shanghai and despite a very demanding corporate job, I enrolled for 2 years of Qigong study at Shanghai Qigong Institute where I learned the 20 basic movements, the 8 brocades and the 6 healing sounds together with the basics of Chinese Medicine. In order to also access a more western approach to Qigong and Mindfulness, I completed my journey with different trainings at "Le Temps du Corps" in Paris, learning from Master Ke Wen and her amazing team. When leaving China for Singapore, I wanted to take with me what I most loved and valued about China’s philosophy and way of life. I have been using Fengshui principles to decorate and balance energy at home, Chinese medicine and nutrition principles to cook and care for my family’s health and Qigong to regulate my moods and energy levels throughout the busy weeks. Qigong has also helped me to undergo a major career change, leaving a very comfortable but highly stressful Trade Advisor Government job for an HR Coaching & Counselling practice where I feel connected to the WHY longer term purpose and at last able to be truly myself. I have now been teaching Qigong & Mindfulness for the past 3 years in Singapore and now in Bangkok and take tremendous pleasure in bringing this feeling of well being and long term health to my dear group.
