แพทย์หญิง วราลี ฉัตรชมชื่น แพทย์เฉพาะทางด้านโรคต่อมไร้ท่อและโรคอ้วน จากศูนย์เบาหวาน ไทรอยด์ และต่อมไร้ท่อเทพธารินทร์ โรงพยาบาลวิมุต-เทพธารินทร์ ได้รับเกียรติเชิญเป็นวิทยากรบรรยายในหัวข้อ 'ภาวะอ้วนในเอเชีย' ในงานประชุมวิชาการของสมาพันธ์โรคเบาหวานแห่งเอเชีย ณ ศูนย์ประชุมนานาชาติโอซาก้า ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 22 พฤษภาคม 2569
งานประชุมนี้ถือเป็นเวทีระดับนานาชาติที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดแห่งปี โดยได้รับความสนใจจากแพทย์เฉพาะทางด้านเบาหวานกว่า 5,000 ท่านทั่วเอเชีย และจัดร่วมกับงานประชุมใหญ่ครั้งที่ 69 ของสมาคมโรคเบาหวานแห่งประเทศญี่ปุ่น เนื่องด้วยสถานการณ์โรคเบาหวานในเอเชียกำลังเป็นปัญหาทางการแพทย์ที่สำคัญ โดยชาวเอเชียมักมีลักษณะทางพันธุกรรมที่แตกต่างจากตะวันตก (มักไม่ค่อยอ้วนแต่มีการหลั่งอินซูลินผิดปกติ) แพทย์หญิงวราลีร่วมแชร์ประสบการณ์และร่วมอภิปรายทิศทางการดูแลโรคอ้วนในเอเชีย พร้อมทั้งได้รับเชิญเป็นผู้ดำเนินการอภิปราย ในช่วงนำเสนอผลงานวิจัยหัวข้อ "ภาวะก่อนเบาหวาน อ้วนและกลุ่มโรคเมแทบอลิสม" เมื่อวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 21 พฤษภาคม 2569 อีกด้วย
โรงพยาบาลวิมุต-เทพธารินทร์ (ก่อตั้งปี พ.ศ.2528) มุ่งมั่นที่จะยกระดับการรักษาเบาหวานในไทย ไม่ได้ดูแลเพียงให้การรักษา แต่แพทย์และบุคลากรในทีมยังมุ่งมั่นให้ความรู้และทำงานวิจัยระดับนานาชาติ เพื่อนำองค์ความรู้ใหม่มาประยุกต์ใช้เพื่อคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ป่วย
Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes invited Dr. Waralee Chatchomchuan, an endocrinologist with a special focus on obesity care at THEPTARIN Diabetes, Thyroid and Endocrine Center (TDTEC), Vimut-Theptarin Hospital, to serve as a speaker in the symposium “Obesity in Asia” at the 18th Annual Meeting of the Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes, held at the Osaka International Convention Center on Friday, 22 May 2026.
This prestigious scientific meeting was held in conjunction with the 69th Annual Meeting of the Japan Diabetes Society and welcomed more than 5,000 diabetologists and healthcare professionals from across Asia, together with over 12,000 members of the Japan Diabetes Society.
The rapid rise in diabetes prevalence has become one of the most significant healthcare challenges across Asia. Importantly, the clinical phenotype of diabetes among Asian populations often characterized by impaired insulin secretion and diabetes occurring in individuals without marked obesity, differs from that commonly observed in Western populations, where obesity and insulin resistance are more prominent. Recognizing these unique characteristics, diabetes experts across Asia established the Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes in 2009 in Osaka, Japan, to strengthen collaborative research and improve diabetes care specifically for Asian populations.
Returning to its birthplace in Osaka, the 18th Annual Meeting of the AASD brought together distinguished diabetes and obesity experts from more than 30 countries across Asia to exchange knowledge and advance diabetes prevention, treatment, and patient care. It was a great honor for TDTEC to contribute to this important international forum through the participation of Dr. Waralee Chatchomchuan, who shared her expertise and perspectives on the future of obesity care in Asia. In addition, she was also invited to serve as a moderator for oral research presentations in the session “Prediabetes, Obesity, and Metabolic Syndrome” on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
Clinicians at THEPTARIN Diabetes, Thyroid and Endocrine Center (TDTEC) dedicate their work to both patient care and clinical research, aiming to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes and endocrine disorders. By integrating direct clinical experience with scientific investigation, TDTEC clinical academics help bridge the gap between research and real-world patient care.
Vimut-Theptarin Hospital (founded in 1985), formerly known as Theptarin Hospital, was Thailand’s first specialized diabetes and thyroid center. The institution pioneered multidisciplinary diabetes team care in Thailand, emphasizing patient education and self-management to reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications and disability. Beyond clinical service and education, the hospital also participates in national and international clinical research collaborations in diabetes and endocrinology, with the aim of supporting improved patient care and outcomes.
