๐ฌ๏ธ Winds Outside, Winds Within ๐ฌ๏ธ
Reflections from Koh Phangan
Here on the island, the winds are strong again. Trees sway, leaves scatter, and the air feels alive with movement. In Chinese Medicine, wind is more than weatherโitโs a force of change. Sometimes invigorating, sometimes unsettling. It can enter the body and the heart, stirring things up, especially when weโre already vulnerable.
Right now, many of us are feeling inner windsโrestlessness, anxiety, sadness, fear. With whatโs happening in Israel and Iran, the collective nervous system is on edge. Even from far away, we can feel the tremors in our bodies.
So what do we do when the winds blow strong?
We ground.
We breathe.
We return to the body.
Here are a few gentle practices I recommend during windy or stressful times:
๐ฑ Sit on the earth, bare feet if you can.
๐จ Exhale longer than you inhale. Let it go.
๐ฟ Place your hands on your chest and belly. Just listen.
๐ Make small circular movements with your jointsโneck, shoulders, hips, wristsโsoftly "unwinding" the tension.
๐ฅ Warm foods, ginger tea, and less screen time can help too.
Most of all, remind yourself: I am safe, I am loved. I am supported by the earth. And if you're feeling overwhelmedโreach out. You donโt have to carry it all alone.
With care from the windy island,
