The journey home. It’s what we all long for.

Home.

The word conjures as many images as it does feelings.

Home can be a physical space, a person, a feeling, a frequency, or it can be a combination of the above.

Without a journey we have no perception of ourselves other than that which has been prescribed to us by our family, community, culture, religion etc. We carry the beliefs of others as being the absolute truth of ourselves.

But what if that’s inaccurate? What if you are so much more than the perception you hold true.

What if you’ve outgrown your “bond” but fear the enormity of bigger water?

Journeying isn’t just a physical experience. Buy a ticket, pack, plane etc. In healing work, in particular Shamanism, it’s about journeying with the soul to retrieve wisdom so you can get into the big water of life.

There are many ways to journey in Shamanism, and one of my favourites in the river journey.

Upstream represents your past which contains experiences, information and trauma. We journey there to see how what happened upstream, is affecting your present and future.

We journey downstream to gain insight on what’s coming into your life and clear the way for a successful outcome.

If you could journey to a particular point in time, in your own life, how old would you be and what would you hope to gain? Healing? Forgiveness? Clarity?

Do you ever find yourself claiming “This is the way I am because I am a- fill me in the blank- Ta**us, extrovert, 1 in numerology, manifestor in human design” blah blah blah.
Don’t misunderstand me. These are all valuable and helpful tools to identify particular traits we have in our human experience. However they can loop us in and hold us hostage as self identifiers rather than holding us in the power of self actualization.
Let me explain. A self identifier is something that we hold onto to validate what our mind perceives to be true about us. This looks like I am a Ta**us; Therefore, I am materialistic. I am grounded I’m practical. I’m a one in numerology. Therefore, I’m just this way. I am an extrovert, so I only like, etc. etc., when we are looking at self identifiers, they limit our ability to practice our free will, and our ability to evolve, to change the perception we have of ourselves, and therefore our actions and orientation in the physical world. It doesn’t mean that these tools aren’t helpful. It doesn’t mean turn away from self exploration in identifying your traits that amplify your strengths, so that you can hone in on your skills and talents. But don’t hold onto them as being the only reality available to you.
