Second Day of the 21st Medical Association of Southeast Asian Nations Conference commenced with a Scientific Symposium featuring important discussions on mental health among healthcare professionals.

The symposium included presentations on “Catching the Quiet Signs: Early Detection of Suicidal Risk in Health Professionals” delivered by Dr. Robert D. Buenaventura from the Philippine Medical Association, and “Maintaining Our Mental Health When Facing a Complaint” presented by Dr. Michael Lim from the Singapore Medical Association.

The program continued with the presentation of Country Reports from MASEAN member associations, the formal signing of the MODALA Manifesto on Mental Health, the adoption of declarations regarding Cannabis and Electronic Ci******es, and the approval of Vietnam as the host country for the next MASEAN Conference.

The Associação dos Médicos de Timor-Leste (AMTL) was officially inducted as a new member of the Medical Association of Southeast Asia (MASEAN) during the 21st MASEAN Conference, held at Modala Beach Resort, Bohol Island, Philippines.

The induction ceremony commenced with the official declaration by the Chairman of MASEAN, Dr. Hector Santos Jr., followed by the ceremonial placement of the Timor-Leste national flag on stage by the Secretary-General of AMTL, dr. Florindo Gomes, M.Biomed (AAM), MARS, MH.Kes.
The ceremony continued with a speech delivered by the President of AMTL, dr. Herculano Seixas dos Santos, Specialist in Cardiology, and concluded with the official handover of the commemorative plaque from the President of MASEAN to AMTL.

This historic milestone marks a significant achievement for AMTL and the nation of Timor-Leste, reflecting the growing recognition of our medical community at the regional level. It symbolizes our commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and the advancement of healthcare within Southeast Asia.
