In Okinawa β€” one of the world's β€” elders talk about π˜ͺ𝘬π˜ͺ𝘨𝘒π˜ͺ: the reason you get out of bed in the morning. It's often reduced to a lifestyle trend.

Here's what the research actually shows:

🧬 The Ohsaki Study followed 43,000+ Japanese adults for 7 years. After adjusting for age, smoking, sleep, stress and medical history, those without a sense of ikigai had a 50% higher risk of all-cause death β€” and a 60% higher risk of cardiovascular mortality.

πŸ«€ The Japan Collaborative Cohort Study (73,000+ people, 12.5 years) found the same pattern: people with ikigai were significantly less likely to die over the follow-up, with effects holding after controlling for health behaviours and baseline illness.
