As I walk through the Gates.
As the latch clashes back onto the Gates, they come running; the usual welcoming comittee wagging tails with such intensity that their whole butt sways with every swing.
We pet their heads, wait for them to p*e on every plant and walk in together.
We hear happy shrills of laughter and look to see a toddler running to hide behind a great structure he calls 'The uncle'.
On the couch we find them; the ground piled with toys, the tablet playing dougie, the TV playing Marsha and the bear.
The air thick with the smell of curried chicken, masala plums and fresh sada.
'GOOD evening, good evening!!' Ma says after a very long day of tending to plants, cooking, taking care of all the pets and making dhal for a toddler who no longer takes a nap during the day.
We walk into the room to see the boys' bowl filled with clean water.. food containers cleaned and mixed with fresh chicken for what could most likely be the 3rd time for the day; yet they jump and scratch us for thier fav treat they know as 'Snax' (pedigree small dog dental hygeine chews.)
Bowls we may have left in the sink all taken care off, the Jayce clean and his long curly hair washed with patience.
AC's on and cooling in hopes that we would have returned home soon and for the boys to rest comfortably while we get there.
The many stories about the day and the many paintings and drawings a proud uncle has to show us.
We listen, we feel lucky, blessed, happy.
This is how we come 'Home'
This is what makes it all worth it.
Our family.
Our comfort.
Our soft place.
We can try our best to be there for each other as a couple; but without these people; there will be no joy returning home, no peace to manage Happy Melon, no time to run a business.
Life is beautiful.
I am grateful with every little piece of me; I am grateful.
My heart is full.
To be accepted for all that I am. To be loved for being me.
To be understood my a mother in law that I am a working mother. For her hugs, her food, her laughter; just her.
I am grateful.
