What is ‘Anugraha’? You may be wondering what ‘Anugraha’ means. This is a Sanskrit word with many meanings but the words which speak to me the most are ‘grace’ and ‘support’. Anugraha is that grace which is achieved through our own experiences; which supports us as we move through our everyday lives. At Anugraha Yoga we create the space for your experiences to happen.

"Clothing I love to wear" is the prompt for day 2 of 's challenge.

Some years back I made a conscious decision to wear more saris - for formal occasions, for everyday occasions. When I wear them I feel connected to my cultural heritage, my ancestors, and myself.

Over the years I've moved from having my saris sewn to being able to wrap them however I please. I love the grace and beauty of them, and how comfortable I am when I wear them.

I am grateful for these pieces that have come to me through my family, through friends and through my own work.

November 1st marks day 1 of 's challenge, one I've been a part of since 2018.

I've shared previously that I think it's a wonderful way to wind down the year. Focusing on gratitude allows us to:
🔸 build awareness of self and surroundings, our actions and reactions.
🔸 become more appreciative of all that is in our space.

Cultivating our gratitude practice can lead to greater resilience and a more fulfilling life.

Today's prompt invites us to focus our attention on a story we love. In reflecting on the prompt I thought of the stories we are a part of in each moment, the stories we create.

Today my partner and I attended ; in the photo you can see us posing for our portrait at 's booth. Yesterday I told two friends that I've been attending Bits & Pieces since before I had a partner. Every year that I attend I've been inspired by the creativity and innovation of our local artisans. This has led me to explore my own creativity and to discover more of what I am capable of.

Grateful for all the moments that make up the story of my life.

Did you know that these are all part of the things I've done? 🎓🧘🏾‍♀️As we grow into fullness we are encouraged to incorporate all aspects of self into the work that we are doing and the lives we are called to lead.

I'm happy to share that I am co-facilitating this *one-day* Teen Wellness Program with my brother Ved of Yoga with Ved, and our friend Hanna Sridevi of Sacred Flow Yoga. This program is built from our training, our experiences and our desire to provide guidance to our younger generations.

🌟 Overcoming Anxiety for Success will be held on December 14th 2025, at the Cascadia Event and Conference Centre (), in Port-of-Spain.

Teens will explore three (3) areas to move from : Self-Awareness, Creativity and Balance. At the end of the day they will have learned essential skills for managing anxiety and will leave feeling refreshed, calm and connected.

$750 for the day includes

🌟 Overcoming Anxiety for Success
December 14th @ Cascadia Event and Conference Centre in POS.

Teens will explore 3 areas to move from .

Self-Awareness
I will facilitate a session on cultivating self-awareness and self-regulation. This is critical for learning to manage anxiety, stress, and challenging life situations. This will draw upon yogic wisdom and I will teach practical breathing exercises that teens can use in school and life.

Creativity
Renee from Anugraha Yoga will facilitate a therapeutic creativity session that activates multiple intelligences, and will teach teens how to destress with healthy self expression through art.

Balance
Sridevi from Sacred Flow Yoga will be doing a deep session of sound therapy, using healing vibrations from a variety of instruments to deeply de-stress and calm the nervous system.

At the end of the day teens will have learned essential skills for managing anxiety and leave feeling refreshed, calm and connected.

Today, October 10th, is observed as World Mental Health Day.

This year when I saw the call for exhibitors for 's current exhibition, "Stronger Together: Nurturing Mental Health Through Community", I thought about my work as a yoga instructor, the community we build together through practice, and how I could possibly express that.

I'm happy to share that this mixed media collage piece, based on Sutra 1.2 of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and my experiences in community, is a part of the current exhibition.

There is a lot of information being shared today for World Mental Health Day and I am adding to it with two simple practices and these last points:
🔸Be discerning - see what applies to you and do your own research
🔸Notice if there are feelings of overwhelm and give yourself space
🔸Be still and know - sometimes the best thing one can do for one's mental health is to rest

Join me at the New Leaf Market for our Holiday Collage Card Workshop!

💲 $50 per person | payment required to book your spot

You will be guided through creating personalized, handmade Christmas cards using collage techniques. No prior art experience needed! You’ll leave with one (or more) unique cards.

Materials are included but feel free to bring along any holiday magazines or photos you would like to include and your festive spirit! Whether you’re a crafty enthusiast or just curious, this session is perfect for all levels.

October 1st is observed as the UN International Day of Older Persons, a day for us to acknowledge the contributions and wisdom of our older persons and raise awareness of the challenges they face.

I had the opportunity to attend, along with my parent, the Geriatric Society of Trinidad and Tobago's () event in celebration of this day. We were fortunate to witness the honouring of several older persons from our national community, to hear statistics about our aging population, and reflect on the importance of putting things in place to better serve and care for our elderly with dignity and respect.

This photo of my parent is from a few years back, taken after a day of helping him install a new window. He tells me that I do not recognise he is getting older and I tell him that he does not recognise he is getting older. We both observe the changes in our bodies as we age - what we are able to do now compared to a decade ago, or even a year ago, is different.

I am thankful for the opportunity to have these experiences as we age, and we work at keeping the body, mind, heart and spirit strong. I do this through my yoga practice and share what I have learnt through my work.

Today, October 5th, is observed as World Teachers’ Day. Our older persons are our teachers. They share with us their knowledge and lived experiences so that we may learn and grow. I give thanks for all my teachers - my parents, my Guru, and all who have shared with me through my schooling and life.

Yesterday Neala () and I met to review our Speak to the Stars writing workshop, held on the 21st September at The Shadytree Cottage (.tt). 

She's already shared how the workshop unfolded - the energy of the day, the feelings of the group when contemplating the stars in the sky, the inspiration for our writing, and gratitude and love to our writers ✨

World Gratitude Day is also observed on September 21st. I felt then, as I feel now, immense gratitude for being asked to co-facilitate, to bring my presence and energy into this space. 

Thank you to those who accepted the invitation to write with us. It takes great courage to open oneself to these experiences, to share in community, to connect with self and others in this way. 

Thank you to Neala for crafting this session and allowing the ideas to flow ❤️

We are already planning future workshops. Looking forward to what comes next! ✨🌳
