Was happy to be at the The St. James Medical Sciences Complex at the the Women's Clinic for the wrap up of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! I was glad to educate the women on the importance of wearing the correct bra, knowing your correct bra size, taking care of those precious pairs and the post - surgical bras and prosthesis available to them. They thoroughly enjoyed the information even the nurses. I felt satisfied and overwhelmed that I was able to do my part and show some love and support.

What is on my mind? I'm here thinking about how much some breast cancer survivors suffer to stay alive. Some with very little family support.

Some with locally advanced breast cancer can barely get their dressings done on the weekends. Don't talk about when some are in need of blood transfusions. It's a struggle to get donors.

With the advancement of treatment for cancer, even those with stage 4 are living longer. Living longer with very little supportive care in place to assist survivors and family members.

Quality of life is important. So after you 'Walk for the Cure', 'Party in Pink', enjoy 'Tickle Me Pink Fet' and dress in Pink every Friday in October, remember to stop and think that life goes on for the survivors and the field of care is not level one.

Think about how you can help to make life easier for your church sister or brother, your coworker or the neighbour who is battling cancer.
