Our recent Surgical Endoscopy Course and General Surgery Intensive Course featured Dr. Philip Chiu — a pioneer and globally recognized authority in endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery (MIS).
Professor Chiu has played a pivotal role in advancing the field both locally and internationally, most notably through the introduction of robotic-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy for the treatment of esophageal carcinoma. Renowned for his innovations in endoscopic robotics, his development of a two-handed surgical robot earned him a prestigious award nomination.
His distinguished career spans contributions to gastrointestinal cancer treatment and continuous advancements in surgical technology. As he shared in our interview, “Robotic surgery sets a new standard compared to traditional MIS, offering greater mobility and freedom of movement to perform complex tasks while reducing joint strain for surgeons.
