Today, together with the Project Manager, Dr. Alfateresia Mwasangama, I had the pleasure of discussing the Kikohozi Research Project during a radio session at EFM Radio. It was a valuable opportunity to share the science behind the project, including how artificial intelligence can support early screening and detection of respiratory illnesses through cough sound analysis. We also explained the participant enrollment process, highlighting what participation involves and the importance of community involvement in advancing this important research. It was an engaging discussion that allowed us to raise awareness about the project, address questions and concerns from the public, and emphasize the potential impact of this innovation on improving healthcare outcomes in our communities.

Today, I had the pleasure of discussing the Kikohozi Classifier Project with an engaging team of presenters at Gold FM in Kahama. The conversation was both insightful and energizing, touching on the growing role of artificial intelligence in healthcare and how innovations like the Kikohozi Project are contributing to early detection and improved management of respiratory diseases.

We explored key issues surrounding tuberculosis (TB) and the transmission of other respiratory conditions, highlighting the urgent need for scalable, accessible diagnostic tools in our communities. We also had an open discussion about common concerns and fears around AI particularly trust, accuracy, and ethical use and how these can be addressed through transparency and community engagement.

It was truly a wonderful and thought-provoking session. I am also pleased to share that cough sound recording is now actively underway at Kahama Municipal Hospital, marking an important step forward in strengthening our dataset and advancing this innovation.
