Artesans ResQ EU

Artesans ResQ EU NGO (non-governmental organization) that transport critical patients of all ages from any point in Ukraine and provide critical care transfer trainings.

Artesans-ResQ has been active in Ukraine for two years now and specialises in the intensive care transport of injured and sick people. The project covers three main areas:
• Coordinative support
• Transportmission
• Trainingsmission
In this project, we are collaborating with the WHO, the Ukrainian Ministry of Health and the European Commission.Artesans-ResQ provides its own intensive care transport capacities. Regular outpatient clinics and large-capacity intensive care transporters in the form of buses are used, which can transport up to five ventilated patients at the same time. Our vehicles are in use around the clock and have already transferred 350 patients over a total distance of around 38,000 km this year. We are called to the most complex medical cases.

We have finished a four-day training course for the Superhumans Center Four days of learning, practice, case studies and teamwork — all to be even better prepared for the daily challenges that reality throws at us.

Together, we reviewed real and hypothetical situations, practiced care algorithms, and discussed methods to approaching challenging scenarios.

Most importantly, we learned to listen to and trust each other.

Thank you Superhumans Center for the opportunity to teach, your trust in our team, and your sincere desire to learn.

May your team always have a strong shoulder to lean on, confidence in their actions, and a heart that is not afraid of challenges. The work you do is incredible, and we are delighted to have been a part of your journey.

Little Roman suffered a serious injury as a result of a recent rocket attack. A piece of shrapnel still remains in his head.

Thanks to the coordinated work of doctors and nurses at the St. Zinaida Children's Clinical Hospital in Sumy (Instagram / Facebook), Roman’s condition was stabilized shortly after the attack, saving his life.

Roman was urgently transferred from there to another facility to receive neurosurgical treatment and continued comprehensive therapy.

Transportation was provided by the Artesans ResQ - Ukraine intensive care team. We monitored his vitals, continued existing treatments, and swiftly and safely got him to the next facility.

We sincerely thank the team of Sumy doctors and nurses for their professionalism, sensitivity, and responsible transfer of the child.

We stand with those who are fighting for their lives. We are doing everything possible to ensure that Ukrainian Children not only have a chance to recover, but also to have a future. Where they are loved. Where they belong. Right here — at home.

Over two days, the Artesans - ResQ Ukraine team conducted a training course on inter-hospital transportation of critically ill patients. We focused on the key aspects that determine safe and effective transportation — from the moment of patient assessment to handover to the receiving team.

Particular attention was paid to:

▪️ Pre-transport examination of the patient according to the ABCDE principles;
▪️ Acceptance of a patient in critical condition and transfer of the patient with to hospital teams with all proper documentation and paperwork required to clearly pass information.
▪️ Maintaining team coordination under different high stress conditions.

Over these two days, we tried to impart as much knowledge, practical solutions, and real-life cases as possible on the students of the course.

The course became not only a learning space and networking opportunity to all involved, but also allowed us to learn from the students in return, strengthening our organisation.

We thank each participant for their involvement and willingness to learn about skills critical to saving lives.

Where others see just a road — we see a patient's path to a chance.
Our vehicle is a mobile intensive care unit. A space where every detail serves the main goal: to save a life.
Everything here is thought through. Monitors continuously track every vital sign. The ventilator is ready to support breathing at any moment. Infusion pumps precisely deliver medications. The power system, backup lighting, incubator heating, and secure equipment mounting allow us to work confidently, even on the move.
This is not improvisation.
This is a carefully organized space, calculated to the centimeter.
Everyone knows what to do and when.
We don't just transport a patient — we create a stable, controlled environment, where protocols work just as they do in an ICU. Only here — in motion.
Our team is one unified mechanism.
Doctor, paramedic, driver - each acts precisely and in sync, because in this mission there's no room for hesitation and no detail too small.
We don't wait — we stay ahead of the situation.
We respond and make decisions instantly.
Inside - calm, a clear algorithm, order, and control.
Because with us is everything needed to preserve life.
And something even more vital than equipment — experience, clear minds, and trust.
Trust between us. And the trust of those who place their patient in our hands.

Today, the Artesans-ResQ Ukraine team, in close cooperation with the Kropyvnytskyi EMS, carried out a critical interregional transport of a 5-year-old child with a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple facial bone fractures from Kropyvnytskyi to Kyiv.

The child’s condition was life-threatening and required continuous intensive care and real-time monitoring of vital functions throughout the transfer.

This mission demanded full focus, seamless coordination, and immediate decision-making from the entire team.

We sincerely thank our colleagues from Kropyvnytskyi EMS for their professionalism, dedication, and effective collaboration. It is through partnerships like these that we are able to respond on time — even in the most critical situations.

Together — for the sake of life.

Transporting a Patient with 80% Body Burns. Ventilation. Vasopressor Support. Full Mobilization of Critical Resources.

Patients with severe thermal injuries are among the most vulnerable in the ICU. Transporting such patients is an extremely high-risk procedure that requires not only impeccable technical equipment but also precisely calibrated tactics and strict adherence to critical care standards.

Why is this important?
In extensive burns, not only the skin but the entire body is affected. Fluid loss, shock development, impaired thermoregulation, pain, and the risk of infection — all of these threaten the patient's life during transport. Each component plays a crucial role in maintaining stability and minimizing complications.

Transporting patients with severe burns is not merely logistics. It is intensive care delivered outside the hospital.
The patient's life depends on the condition of the team and adherence to protocols.

This time — an infant in critical condition.
A baby girl. Just two months old.
Severe respiratory failure caused by acute pneumonia.
Oxygen saturation — critically low.
Spontaneous breathing — barely effective.

Our team responded to the call.
And from the very first minutes, it was clear: the condition was extremely serious, every minute counted.

We acted quickly and in full coordination.
The following was performed:
— tracheal intubation,
— venous access placement,
— calculation and administration of pain relief and sedative medications,
— mechanical ventilation,
— transport in an incubator with full monitoring.

Every step — for the sake of stability.
Every decision — for a chance.
The tiny heart kept beating. And we maintained its rhythm until the child reached the place where the fight for her life could go on.
Because there is nothing more fragile than a life that has only just begun.
And no higher mission than helping it stay.

April 4. Kryvyi Rih.
Rocket. Dust. Silence.
Among the wreckage – a child.
He is four.Life is just beginning. He should go to kindergarten, discover the world, be happy with new friends, laugh during games. But one moment changed everything.

When we took him away – he was on the verge. He was on artificial ventilation. His heart worked only thanks to high doses of vasopressors. Our team is sincerely grateful to the doctors who fought for him in the first critical hours. It was their work that gave us the opportunity to continue this fight.

It was a difficult situation. The road was hard. But we did everything so as not to lose a single precious second. Our team worked harmoniously: the doctors, the driver, the paramedic – everyone knew what to do. This was not just transport. This was a fight for a child’s life.

In these photos – the moment when we held on with all our might. And we held on to him. Because childhood must live on. Even when everything around us says otherwise. Now he is in a safe place. In the hands of those who had a chance to pull him out of the darkness. Ahead lies a long treatment, rehabilitation. But the main thing – he is alive.

We don’t share everything we see every day. But today we want to show this story. So that you know: your support is real. It is with us on every path, in every saved breath.

Thank you to everyone who is with us. We continue. Because there is nothing more important than life.

Transporting Critically Ill Children:
Professionalism, Dedication, and a Chance for Life

The work of a doctor who is part of a team transporting critically ill children is more than just a profession. It’s a calling — one that demands not only exceptional knowledge and skills, but also unwavering dedication to every little patient.

Every day, these doctors become lifesavers, fighting for the lives of newborns and children in urgent need of medical care and transport to specialized clinics. They work in mobile intensive care units — state-of-the-art ambulances equipped to the highest standards. In this environment, every second counts, and each decision can determine a child’s future.

Their work has no fixed hours — calls can come at any time, day or night, in any weather, under any conditions. They go where help is needed. On the road, they perform complex procedures, carry out resuscitation, and monitor every vital sign to ensure their tiny patients arrive alive and stable.

This job is emotionally exhausting. It’s filled with anxiety and immense responsibility, but also with an extraordinary expiration. Because there is no greater reward than seeing a child they’ve saved given a chance to live.

Doctors in critical transport teams are those who cannot afford to make mistakes. They fight for every heartbeat. They don’t just transport children. They are carrying hope.

5 Rules for Safe Medical Transport According to CCT Standards

Transporting critically ill patients is the riskiest stage on the road to recovery. Most complications occur during transport due to hemodynamic instability, respiratory issues, or lack of monitoring.

To minimize these risks, the team must strictly follow intensive care transport (CCT) standards.

1. Initial patient assessment
2. Immobilization and safety measures
3. Monitoring and life support
4. Safe positioning and movement minimization
5. Transport coordination

Critical Care Transport (CCT) Standards

Our team provides training through a specialized program: “Transporting Critical Patients.”
We teach doctors and paramedics across Ukraine the correct protocols for safe critical patient transport.

Transport = Intensive Care on Wheels
A patient should not lose the quality of care, even during transport.

- Professional medical team
- Full resuscitation equipment
- Strict adherence to CCT standards

= A chance for life for critical patients!

Everything changes in a second.
Stability fades, the monitor alarms—and the fall begins: sudden, uncontrollable.

But there is no fear—only action.
The team moves as one, reaching into the darkness to catch the one who’s falling.

Then—response.
A steady wave flickers on the monitor. The fall slows. A lifeline appears—and we pull.

Step by step.
Another stable reading. Another breath.
And just when all hope seemed lost—he returns.
We won.

This edge is always near.
But every time, we will fight.
Because every life is worth saving—even from the deepest darkness.
