The right board – choose between a skateboard, a longboard and a cruiser

Before buying a skating board, you should determine your goal. There are many options for each request. Let's look at how to pick up a skateboard, how it differs from a cruiser and a longboard and what can be done with them.

Riding a board is both a physical activity and at the same time a way to save time. It all depends on the purpose of use – whether it will be quiet walks around the city, stunts in the park or high-speed races on serpentines. Each board meets its tasks, it is important to decide on the deck - the upper part of the board with a non-slip coating, where wheels and suspensions are already attached.

What is the difference between a skateboard and a longboard, how to ensure a good ride and what to pay attention to? Offering a different approach to skating, all boards are designed to facilitate movement and make skating dynamic and easy.

For stunts and parks
If you plan to throw a board into the air, jump stairs, slide along the ramp and railing, make a choice in favor of a skateboard. A short board, small wheels and a rigid suspension - which is what is required for performing tricks.

If possible, come to the store in comfortable shoes in which you plan to ride, and test the skateboard before buying.

Convenience and mobility
A cruise is a board for riding around the city for short distances. Soundboard up to 80 cm – longer than a skateboard, but shorter than longboard models. Still, there are many options on the Internet or in a sports store, among which a beginner can easily get lost or get lost. So, what should I pay attention to if I want to buy a skateboard for beginners?

The width of the deck (board).
It can range from 4.7 to 10.625 inches. The best option for you is an eight–inch soundboard. It is universal and will allow you to understand what is needed after training, because wider options increase stability, and narrow ones are more maneuverable.

There are no special comments here, but the 31-inch models remain the most popular option. If you want to buy a gift for a child, we recommend choosing a children's skateboard with a reduced length. As for bending the board, there are no universal options and you need to try it in practice.

You also need to be prepared for their frequent replacement during active skating, so it won't hurt to buy a spare kit right away.

Bearings.
The most important element that you should not save on when buying a skateboard for beginners, because safety and speed depend on their quality. Bearings of grades 1 and 3 will become a universal option for beginners, and professionals should choose grades 5, 7 or 9 already. Among the brands, let's pay attention to Fkd, Lucky, Cliche.

The skin.
This is a film that provides a reliable grip of the shoe with the board and prevents the feet from slipping off. Here, choose something to your taste, but remember that the most expensive and cool skin will not allow you to master an adult or children's skateboard faster, so practice should be the basis.
