American scientists J. Trepanovski and R. Bloomer also speak about the contradictory data on the effect of fasting on the cardiovascular system in their work "How does the observance of religious fasting affect the state of health?" They cite the results of a study of the level of antioxidants in the blood before and after the Nativity Fast. The study showed that the amount of antioxidants decreased in the participants after fasting, and this negatively affects health.

Thus, fasting has an individual effect on each person, depending on his health, body weight, habits and lifestyle.
