What would make you feel good? In the search for pleasant feelings, in order not to fall into the trap of eating up stress and blocking out frustration with impulse purchases (the effect will be short-lived), it is good to know how they actually arise. Vladimir Zhaenz-Zaitsev, an elite trainer at the World Class Tverskaya club, explained how it all works.
There are four main hormones associated with positive emotions: serotonin, dopamine, endorphin and oxytocin. Phenylethylamine, the hormone of love, is also added.
Serotonin
Serotonin gives rise to a feeling of satisfaction at the realization of our status, our social role, and our intentions. We experience it when we have brought things that are important to us to their logical conclusion. The release of serotonin is the "reward" for such accomplishments. It creates a pleasant comfort - a feeling of belonging in the world. Ironically, 80% of serotonin is produced in the intestines, and there is an interesting fact connected with this: if during the period of wakefulness and activity a person did not realize what he or she wanted, compensation often occurs through food intake.
