Regular exercise is both a dream, a torment, and a mirage for most normal people. On the one hand, we easily wish, plan, and start exercising, but on the other, we quickly quit. The same is often true in other life situations that require discipline and perseverance. "Quitting smoking is very easy. I, for example, have quit many times," Mark Twain wittily pointed out. It's the same with projects, start-ups, careers. So what do you have to do to learn how to achieve the results you want? The obvious solution is to find motivation strong enough to make us overcome ourselves every day and take the next step toward future success. How much motivation does one need to have in order to last? The answer is that the motivation must be either one very strong factor or a set of many factors that come into play in moments of fading inner energy. An example of the former is the strongest motivation to survive or care for a loved one, the latter is the support of friends, bonuses, quick wins, and more. A special case is the strongest intrinsic motivation and passion for cheerleading, that is, competing with oneself. Then the source of energy becomes an internal dialogue with your own super-ego, forcing you to start a new one and push yourself to the result. For example, as a child I watched my father go for a run in the park every morning at 6 o'clock, wipe himself with snow, and upon returning home lie down in a tub of ice water. I didn't want to take part in the extreme back then, and I didn't like gym class at school. It took many years for me to consciously come to the sport, to overcome myself, to enjoy speed and achievement.
