When exactly mankind invented soap, no one knows. The oldest archaeological finds that testify to its use are already about 4,500 years old. Apparently, it was invented by the Sumerians, who lived in the Middle East.
Well-made soap has no expiration date. It does not deteriorate, but, on the contrary, it only gets better with age, like expensive wines and cheeses. Soap aged under the right conditions smells better, dries the skin less and lathers more.
The well-known company Procter & Gamble released soap in 1880, which immediately became a bestseller because it did not sink in water. In fact, it happened by accident - such a low density in the final product turned out to be because during the production process, an extraneous impurity got into it due to an error.
The expression “soap opera” originated in the United States during the era of the popularity of radio series with simple plots, because soap and various cleaning products were often sponsored by them, since the main audience of these radio series were bored housewives.
In the Mediterranean, the first soap appeared about 2600 years ago. True, after the fall of the ancient civilizations of the Ancient World, the secret of its manufacture, like many other technologies, was lost for many centuries.
