Francis hospital Nkokonjeru is a private, non profit, Community hospital owned by the Roman Catholic diocese of Lugazi. It's administered by little sisters of St. Francis and serves a rural population of approx 200000 in Buikwe district and nearby parts of Mukono district. The hospital was founded in 1926 by Mother kevin kearney as a dispensary to educate the local population in maternal and child health. In 1932 a school of nursing was established and in 1959, the little sisters of St.Francis took over the management of then maternity centre and dispensary. In 1981, the institution received full accredition as a hospital. THE HOSPITAL VISION , The vision of the hospital is to achieve and advocate for a collective participatory health care programm involving the local community, political, local and religious leaders, Roman Catholic church and non governmental organisations, international donor organisations all working in partnership to offer quality care, user friendly and compassionate health care delivery services which promote and safeguard the right to health. MISSION STATEMENT, The mission of St.Francis Nkokonjeru hospital is " healing the poor and the needy in the context of Christian charity and healing".
