Yoga in Ugandan Primary Schools

Yoga in Ugandan Primary Schools Yoga in Ugandan Primary Schools is a project that aims to empower and lift communities in Uganda through improved mental and physical health. Join the fun!

Yoga in Ugandan Primary Schools is a project started in July 2016 in two districts in Uganda. The project is a collaboration between Børneyogahulen, teenYOGAspace, ASHWA and Bethany Centre Uganda. We are aiming to empower teachers and youth through yoga. We are educating the teachers and teenagers to teach yoga in the community and at school. Through yoga, the community will experience improved mental and physical health, higher self-esteem, body awareness, closer bonds and a sense of ability to follow their heart's drive and longing. Yoga has already been accepted and welcomed with much joy and excitement and yoga clubs have been formed in Busia, Uganda. We are looking for volunteers to spread the word, plan the trainings, handle the finances, fundraise... PLEASE COME AND JOIN US!

It is so amazing to see teachers in training growing into confident and competent Yoga Teachers.

We are at Bethany Center Primary School in Uganda and Omwatum Eric and Luutu Ivan are leading the students through fun and relaxing yoga lessons.

We are ready for another training with the teachers at the school this coming weekend and during this week we are challenging them to include yoga in their lessons while we supervise and give feedback.

Changing the way of learning must be done step by step. We are taking important first steps these days.

We are back in Uganda to build the skills of our Yoga Trainers and to include more new people into the Yoga Family.

We have successfully conducted 3 weekend modules of training in Busia and were fortunate to be joined by 6 new trainees who were eager to share yoga with their communities.

Our group of trainers in Busia spans widely and we are represented in Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and even Universities now. We are so grateful for your support and encouragement.

Thank you so much for loving what we do. It makes us stronger.

I december 2016 underviste Kiri Weimann og Lea Dalsgaard 24 skolelærere i to landdistrikter i Uganda.

Thank you for your interest in Yoga in Ugandan Primary Schools!

Yoga creates trust. Trust in yourself and trust in others. Through trust and togetherness, we can grow strong local communities.

We aim to empower the teachers to take yoga and mindfulness into the classroom in order to create an optimal learning situation, and provide the students with life skills that can help them handle their emotions in difficult situations - such as tests, job interviews, criticism from others etc.

We are so grateful to be given the opportunity to share our tools, understanding and experiences with this beautiful group of dedicated teachers from Bethany Centre Uganda and the community around Jjungo, Wakiso. These teachers met up fully. Engaged themselves and gave it all they'd got. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project in any possible way! Anything from an affirming smile to a big monetary contribution has helped all of this happen.
