During our weekly group interactions,we've listened to a handful of stories& testimonies.
We observe a great improvement when people share with others in all aspects of life;
physical,emotional,social/economic&spiritual well-being.

Women and teenagers are the most disenfranchised people amongst the vulnerable groups within our society.

There's an overwhelming number of reported cases of domestic violence, s*xual harassment, and unsafe abortions.

A huge number of young girls and women have less or no choice over when, where and how they have s*x leading to unplanned pregnancies and disease transmission.

The taboes attached to s*xual education/ conversation, makes it more uncomfortable for the responsible people to discuss such matters with these young individuals.

Unavailable and unrevised content to discuss s*x and reproductive health remains a huge challenge for educators to pass correct information to young individuals.

This largely impacts the overall wellbeing of people in our communities negatively.

We are actively involved in reaching out to grassroot communities to sensitize on s*xual and reproductive health and working towards access to improved mental health services at the community level as well.

Stigma is wide which brings fear, shame and guilty hence not seeking for help.
When an individual is drowning in negative thoughts and emotions,it leads to inability to come up with an effective way of resolving issues. Mental illness and su***de requires treatment and not punishment.

Self harm, being suicidal and su***de

Some symptoms are invisible,
The pain is valid and unbearable,
The judgement is too much,
They feel unseen and misunderstood,
They camp with shame and guilty feelings,
They wish to go on with life,
They have less or no options to ease the pain hence harsh actions.
They do not 'commit' su***de but 'die' by su***de.
They urgently need help.

Just to remind you that it's okay to take time for yourself, do not feel bad and guilty for withdrawing.
We can imagine you've got a lot going on, it's not easy being in a dark tunnel.
Remember to reach out for a talk in case usual coping strategies are not helping.
You matter ♥

~Mental illness~

Symptoms are invisible,
Thoughts are not understood,
People surviving with unnoticeable pain,
It's a battle that one fights daily,
The horrible comments, judgements and ignorance of the illness sucks!
Several individuals wish to have a chance and accessible avenues to tell their stories.

We continue to train trainers to reach out to the grassroots communities to sensitize on both physical and mental well-being. Striving to reduce stigma attached to mental illness and neurological related conditions.

Thank you all for showing up.
We keep enhancing the understanding of the link between physical and mental health within our grassroot communities.

We encourage people to learn how to help themselves and others who may seem to be mentally struggling.

Learning how to detect symptoms of any mental related illness is very crucial for earlier intervention and prevention of mental crisis.

Autistic people are significantly likely to think about attempt, die by su***de three times higher or more  than the general population.
Autistic females are ×13 higher more likely to die by su***de than austic males.

These individuals often find it hard to express their emotions.
Let's create space and time , be empathetic, patient and always spread love .

For everyone out there who might be struggling with autistism, we hear you, we wish you courage and we are present.

People with Bipolar disorder are frequently misdiagnosed or under-diagnosed. This can contribute to increased impairment as a result of inappropriate treatment but once diagnosed , a treatment must focus on addressing the individual's symptoms.

In order to get an appropriate treatment for bipolar disorder, a differential diagnosis might be necessary to rule out all other psychopathologies that present the same symptoms or treat them both.

Teach children to verbalise emotions so they don't grow up to be adults who shut down when they feel anything other than happiness. Children experience stress just like adults but may not be able to recognise its ymptoms or know how to express and react effectively. Parents can help by being available, listening actively and respond thoughtfully.

Uzima empowerment continue to work with the grassroots communities to create awareness on mental and neurological related conditions.
Our village team agents interact with parents to enhance parent-child relationship.
