STAR Durable PADS

STAR Durable PADS Our mission: Provide sustainable, comfortable and affordable pads to girls and women of Uganda and beyond. Educate to empower.
(1)

Here in Uganda there exists a troubling problem for many young girls once they reach puberty, unable to afford menstrual hygiene materials, they are forced to drop out of school. This not only has an impact on the individual girls effected, but also creates barriers to progress and prosperity for the girls' future families and communities, impacting the country as a whole. STAR durable pads was created in reaction to this issue; we aim to offer an affordable, sustainable, and comfortable solution to girls and women. We hope to help as many girls as possible with a safe and healthy maintenance of their menstruation. All our pads are locally crafted, supporting seamstresses in the community. Profits made from the sale of our pads go towards offering sexual reproductive health trainings in schools and communities. Empowering women to succeed by promoting body awareness and body autonomy.

🌍 This Menstrual Hygiene Day, we had the opportunity to connect with an incredible group of women from Soweto Village, Masese II in Jinja City. 💬💪
Unlike the usual focus on young girls, this time we intentionally opened the conversation to include young women and older women who still menstruate , and who face the same challenges. 🩸

🧼 It was a powerful opportunity for women to come together and share their strength, struggles, and resilience in the face of menstrual health challenges. 💪🏾
🩸 As part of the day, we were honored to donate reusable sanitary pads , a small but meaningful step toward ensuring dignity, safety, and sustainability in menstrual health.

😔 It's heartbreaking that so many women and girls are still unable to access menstrual hygiene products. As a result, they are forced to resort to unhealthy and unsafe methods of managing their periods, putting them at serious risk of infections, reproductive health issues, or even infertility. 🩸🩺

💔 Menstruation should never be a source of suffering or shame. Every woman deserves dignity, safety, and access to proper menstrual care.
It's time to speak up, raise awareness, and push for sustainable solutions. 💬
Let's work together to create a more inclusive, informed, and 🌸🌱

Menstruating with dignity means having access to affordable, hygienic products. It means clean, private toilets with running water and proper disposal. It means being able to walk into school, head held high, without fear of embarrassment. And it means creating safe spaces where periods are talked about openly, not whispered about in shame.
