Heat stress in poultry is real here’s what to do:
1. Use more fat in the ration, instead of
carbohydrates to reduce extra heat production by
the chickens
2. Adjust feeding schedule: give feed in the early
morning, up until 2 hours before start of heat.
Replace feed in the afternoon, feed untill 9 pm.
3. Give extra limestone to layers of 40 weeks and
older to prevent decreased eggshell quality
4. Use minerals and vitamins (Electrolytes) during heat stress
5. Protect drinking water tanks and pipes against the
heat, flush pipes regularly (two times daily) to cool
down drinking water.
