Elizabeth Okello, President of Uganda Counselling Association honours the KETURAH MENTAL HEALTH AWARDS judging process with her wealth of professionalism in psychology.

Daniel Drileba Dratibi he is a voice in this generation committed to creating mental health awareness. He was winner for the Grassroot Impact Mental Health in 2022. He is the Founder of Voice of restoration International.
Christine Ombima (Miloyo) is a voice in Kenya enriching the space with the power of Lived Experience. She is the Founder of for Mental Health, where people with lived experience get to share experiences and get Peer support to live purposefully.

Miiro Micheal bring to the table a unique lense of disability Inclusion.
Dr. Annette Kirabira, ED of Rahab brings a touch of humanity through counselling psychology.

Dr.Rosco Kasujja, comes a wealth experience as a clinical Psychologist at Makerere University .
Don Zane Muwanguzi is a young man whose expertise emphasises interventions for Youth mental health. He was winner Youth Impact Mental Health Award 2023.

This initiative is powered by Heart2Heart Chat MHP and Ministry of Health; Mental Health Division and partners, Esther's Ventures, Divine Touch Confectionery and Bakery, Crown Beverages Limited, COPE Uganda, Vision Group among others.
The theme is Father Effect and Mental health.

Use the link below to nominate organisations and individuals making and transforming lives in the mental health space.

We have 10categories up for grabs. These include;
■ Leadership through Lived Experience Mental Health Award; the individual should be using their mental health story to transforming lives in the mental health space by also influencing policy change, Advocacy and awareness raising.

■ Youth Impact Mental Health Award- the individual should be 18years to 30years transforming lives in this space with a special focus on young people.

■ Grassroot Impact Mental Health Award- Organisation or individual operating at Grassroot level transforming lives in the mental health space.

■ Caregiver Impact Mental Health Award - Individual using their caregiver story to educate, inform and create awareness within community to transform lives.

■ Workplace Impact Mental health Award- Organisation or individual operating within Workplaces to support mental health of human resource while impacting lives.

■ Media Impact Mental Health Award- Organization or individual utilising either multimedia or traditional Media to focus on mental health while creating outstanding impact on lives in community.

■ Special Impact Mental Health Award- Individual does not necessarily have to be a mental health specialist but uses their influential position to create awareness/programming focusing on boosting transforming lives in the mental health space.
■ School Impact Mental Health Award- Organisations/individuals doing mental health School programming that is improving lives of our young people will promoting healthy coping methods.

■Disability Inclusion Impact Mental Health Award- Individual with a pyschosocial or physical disability influencing lives /organisation impacting lives within the space.

■Outstanding Impact Mental Health Award of the year- Individual making outstanding impact in the mental health space with a special focus on the theme of this year ' Father Effect and Mental health Award. '

Last year we celebarted Grace Obalim of TPO for the Special Impact Mental Health Award and Faith Agumya for the Leadership through lived experience. The Keturah Mental Health Awards initiative has grown to include 10 categories this year. These are;
■ Leadership through Lived Experience Mental Health Award: nominate an individual using their mental health story to transform lives.
■ Caregiver Impact Mental Health Award; an individual using their experience as caregiver to create a support system of awareness and advocacy to transform lives.
■ Youth Impact Mental Health Award; the individual should be between 18years and 30years.
■ Disability Inclusion Impact Mental Health Award; the nominee should be a person with a physical or psychosocial disability individual/organisation impacting lives in the mental health space.
■ Grassroot Impact Mental Health Award; the transforming of lives should be ar Grassroot level ■ Special Impact Mental Health Award; nominee maybe an individual transforming lives in thhee Mental Health space despite not being a mental health specialist.
■ School Impact Mental Health Award; nominee transforming lives in school communities.
■ Workplace Impact Mental health Award -nominee impacting lives in the work space.

The must attend 4th National Mental Health Conference is on starting tomorrow.
The theme is , 'Building Resilient Communities ' the future of mental health in Uganda.
This conference brings together stakeholders from different parts of the world when information, experiences and research on mental health is shared to help improve the mental health landscape in Uganda.

Last year was impactful with COPE Uganda which uses the approach of involving the church in bringing mental health solutions in the community Michael David Kyazze It is still a time of learning for all of us.
With our National referral hospital Butabika with still 550bed capacity yet at any one time admitting more than double its bed capacity, there yet more to be done.

With new approaches of community based mental health interventions, there is an outcry to address the Mental health question in Uganda.

The Fatherhood Symposium drew beautiful and unique experiences in one room. The theme was; 'Fatherhood and it's effects on mental health.'
The Assistant Comissioner for the Mental health Division and substance abuse control Dr. Hafsa Lukwata represented the Minister of State for Primary Health care Honourable Margaret Muhanga. Ministry of Health- Uganda who was Guest of Honour.
The event was graced by our Keynote Speaker Stephen Langa CEO of FamilyLife NETWORK and his lovely wife Beatrice. When a couple is still married for 40years and still counting we cannot but pay attention when they share gems of positive fatherhood.

Our partners Uganda Media Women's Association Mama FM 101.7 Crown Beverages Limited Cradle Sports supported us MY STORY Heart2Heart Chat Mental Health Program to bring you the first Fatherhood Symposium.

Zinhle Ramashala from South Africa and Karen Andrew from United Kingdom honoured our invitation as they shared their experiences.
George Kalule challenged us as parents to rethink parenting so as to support the Youth and children enjoy better mental health while we also take care of ours.

This event attracted stakeholders from Namutumba in Eastern Uganda, Bulenga, Wakiso, UK & SA.

Highlights;
■ Fathers there is help for your Mental Health from health center 3, reach out.
■ Fathers ought to also love their wives to improve the family's mental health.
■ A mentally healthy father is available to their family.
■ Uganda has 60psychiatrists now including those who has recently graduated.
■ Stakeholders committed to take this mental health conversation on Fatherhood to their communities as well.
■ Who cares for the carer? Religious leaders observed that it is crucial that they learn to also prioritise their families before reaching out to the community for a balanced approach.
■ Good mental health starts with you. Do not shy away from selfcare. Even men need selfcare!
