MLT Foundation World I remember someone once asked me if we celebrate the children’s birthdays.

10 years ago we actualy did because we only had 11 children under our care but with 92 children today it’s impossible for us to celebrate that many parties.

But I don’t think the kids would mind if we celebrated almost 100 birthday parties every year 🙂🎂.

Also some of our children don’t know when they were born and if their parents are not alive other family members don’t always know their date of birth.

But despite the challenges we don’t want our children not to be celebrated.

We celebrate 3 × birthday months at the same time and this week was the celebration of all our children born in April, May and June.

Please help me to congratulate:

MLT Foundation World – Africa’s witch children. The forgotten children.

Between 15,000 – 20,000 children are accused of being witches EVERY year in Nigeria and the majority of those children don’t survive.

A child stigmatized as a witch will end up being abused, beaten, tortured, abandoned and some killed.

Killed by being burned alive, buried alive or decapitated.

It is cold hard evidence and I’m yet to see any efforts from the Nigerian government to stop it. I have lived part time in Nigeria for 11 years and there has been absolutely zero improvement when it comes to children’s rights.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that superstition has become a profitable business for many pastors.

When a pastor or witch doctor accuses a child of being a witch (possessed by evil spirits), he or she will offer to do an exorcism but not for free, of course.

Apparently, it costs a lot of money for a pastor to help people in need.

I will continue to raise my voice for justice for the thousands of innocent children accused of being witches.

MLT Foundation World Leineda is only six years old, but her life in Jinja Namawoja has been horrific.

Armed group violence killed her father in 2024 and forced her mother to flee with her siblings. Leineda was already battling malnutrition, but her earlier treatment was disrupted when her family was displaced.

MLT FOUNDATION WORLD and partners are supporting newly displaced families through mobile clinics and providing essential healthcare.

The hope and well-being of children in Jinja depends on their safety. This violence must stop now.
